Who were the best-dressed people on television during that decade, though? Whose far out wardrobe still stands out today? And which character’s closet would fans raid if given the chance? Down below are the answers, as the 10 most 70s!

Jeannie

Jeannie

A well-known series from back in the day is I Dream of Jeannie, which starred Barbara Eden as Jeannie. And, yes, this character was actually a genie who lived in a bottle, met an astronaut, and fell in love.

When it was on, between 1965 and 1970, Jeannie was mostly seen wearing her iconic, pink, flowing, midriff-baring outfit. There were other groovy looks, though, such as mini dresses, swimsuits, a wedding dress, and a familiar outfit in green (as Eden also played Jeannie's evil twin sister, Jeannie II).

Sabrina The Teenage Witch

Today, Sabrina The Teenage Witch is seen in Netflix’s Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, and in the ‘90s, she had her own show, too. There was also an animated series, Sabrina and the Groovie Goolies, that aired from 1970 to 1974. As the show’s opener stated, she was “the grooviest teenage witch”, and she had white hair, a pink headband, blue eyes, a blue dress, and black accessories.

It is normal for cartoon characters to always wear the same outfit, and this one was perfect for this teenage witch. Plus, it is nice to see that Keirnan Shipka’s version of Sabrina has nods to this one from the ‘70s, with those darling headbands!

Carol Brady

The Brady Bunch was on between 1969 and 1974, and it is a staple when it comes to classic sitcoms. Since it focused on a big family with six kids in it, there was always something exciting going on at the Brady house!

While all of the characters wore distinct pieces from this decade, Carol Brady’s wardrobe really stood out. Played by Florence Henderson, the wife/mom of the group kept everyone organized and in order, all while looking so totally far out.

Julia

Julia

From 1968 to 1971, Diahann Carroll played the title character on Julia, and Julia Baker was a widow, a single mother, and a nurse. Furthermore, this was the first weekly TV show that featured an African-American actress in such a leading role.

Yes, it was notable for several reasons, and the outfits worn by this actress and singer/character were just like cherries on top!

Lisa Douglas

60s green acres

Green Acres told the story of Oliver Wendell Douglas, played by Eddie Albert, and his wife, Lisa Douglas, played by Eva Gabor, leaving their glamorous life in Manhattan and moving to a farm in Hooterville.

It was on between the years of 1965 and 1971, and it regularly showed that Lisa did not 100 percent enjoy her new life and definitely missed the shopping and the views of New York. Still, despite her rustic setting, she continued to dress in the most fabulous ways.

Daphne Blake

Daphne Scooby Doo

Another Scooby-Doo franchise. Beginning in 1969, she was Scooby-Doo, Where Are You!, along with Fred Jones, Velma Dinkley, Norville "Shaggy" Rogers, and the talking Great Dane himself.

Daphne’s purple ensemble is very recognizable and known, and whether it was being shown off on this animated series or is seen in the live-action form today on the big screen, it is a true success.

Samantha Stephens

Samantha Bewitched

Another beloved television series on this list is Bewitched, and it starred Elizabeth Montgomery as Samantha Stephens. Sam was a witch, but she married a mortal, so she tried to not do magic… though it happened all the time, with a twitch of her nose!

And the adorable, time-appropriate clothing items that were seen on this character, between 1964 and 1972, made her even more lovable, enjoyable, and legendary.

Mary Richards

The Mary Tyler Moore Show, which aired between 1970 and 1977, featured Mary Tyler Moore as Mary Richards; this character was single and was an associate producer for a TV news program, and the fact that she was not married and was out, working hard in the world, made this a stand-out story.

As a polished and pretty professional, Mary also delivered amazing outfit after amazing outfit, earning her a spot on this list!

Nadine Hudson-Thomas

Nadine Hudson-Thomas

What's Happening!! was on between 1976 and 1979, and its sequel, which was called What's Happening Now!! and which featured the main characters as adults, was on between 1985 and 1988.

So while Anne-Marie Johnson technically played Nadine Hudson-Thomas in the ‘80s, she belongs on this list, due to her awesome clothes.

Laurie Partridge

Laurie Partridge

And, of course, there was Susan Dey as Laurie Partridge, who sang and played instruments on The Partridge Family. This series starred Shirley Jones as a widowed mother with five children, it followed them as they set out to pursue music, and it was on from 1970 to 1974.

All the grooviest and most notable styles from the ‘70s… They were all seen on and worn wonderfully by Laurie.
