At San Diego Comic-Con 2022, the Shazam! Fury of the Gods. The titular character returns, still learning how to balance his childhood with the responsibility of protecting the world from evil threats.
The trailer also gives a full glimpse of the Shazam! Family, which came together at the end of the first movie. DC Comics is known to have powerful superheroes that are still children. Kids like Billy Batson and Beast Boy prove that some of the best heroes, who may be adults now, have had incredible powers and world-saving opportunities since they were young.
Garfield Logan/Beast Boy
Beast Boy is one of the most optimistic child superheroes that DC Comics has to offer. When his life-threatening disease was thwarted off with genetic mutation, he had some animalistic side effects that made him the titular superhero. Though he may seem to struggle at times with his beastliness, he uses it for the good of the Teen Titans.
As a shapeshifter (often called "The Changeling"), Beast Boy has a near limitless power. His power is extremely versatile, giving him the ability to fend off powerful villains—though he may seem immature in his fighting and dialogue.
Jaime Reyes/Blue Beetle
The third person to inherit the Blue Beetle is a teenager named Jaime Reyes. From El Paso, Texas, Jaime found and developed a bond with an Egyptian Scarab that afforded him alien technology and abilities.
As Blue Beetle, Jaime is one of the more powerful kids in DC Comics. Reyes fights magical evil and the everyday struggles of teenage life, all in one day. The Scarab made Reyes a highly trustworthy kid, in which he used it to defend his hometown or fight alongside the Teen Titans and Justice League even at a young age.
Rachel Roth/Raven
Another vital asset to the Teen Titans is Raven. Rachel Roth is the definition of an introvert. As someone who mostly keeps to herself and loathes long conversations, Raven is the most relatable Teen Titan. Her powers in the mystic arts, however, are not as timid as her personality.
Using her otherworldly powers from Azaroth, Raven has been known to defeat large enemies—and even the Teen Titans, while under the manipulation of her father in the New 52 comics. As a kid superhero, Raven proved herself a valuable, though different, member of the Teen Titans. She has fought larger villains and always been more powerful than any of her Teen Titans counterparts.
Wally West/Kid Flash
One of the more famous DC kid superheroes is Wally West. As the youngest to bear the Flash name, Wally has massive shoes to fill. With his young talent, Wally managed to become the fastest Flash (pre-Flashpoint), even beating out Barry Allen. His speed and potential made him a valuable Flash that could be trusted beyond his years.
Wally West has ion and speed unrivaled, and his heart is genuine. While he may be the fastest, he also has some dark moments, including erasing the world's memory of his identity in the "Ignition" story (The Flash #201-206). His speed is a force to be reckoned with, whether he makes childish decisions or not.
Dick Grayson/Robin
Easily the best Robin to exist is Dick Grayson, Batman's first sidekick and the eventual Nightwing. He was the first to escape the role of Robin and become a more developed hero. Even as a kid, Dick Grayson showed incredible skill and fighting tactics; this may be a result of his ambition or his mentor.
Dick Grayson's young accomplishments proved that he always had a noble heart, immovable will, and elite skills, even as a young boy protecting Gotham.
Billy Batson/Shazam!
A kid with powers borrowed from a centuries-old wizard, Billy Batson simply has to yell "Shazam!" to become one of the strongest kids in the world. Billy Batson exhibits the balance between growing up and the weight of saving the world most clearly.
Shazam! is a lovable character that has humanity's interests at heart; he will stop a worldwide threat and care for orphans in his hometown all in the same day. His comic-accurate portrayal in the movie, the best DCEU movie to date.
Kal-El/Superboy
A clone of Superman, Superboy may be the best of the Young Justice League (comics based off the HBO Max show). His only rival regarding powers may be Miss Martian, but his youth and Superman powers make him a near unstoppable force.
Wrestling with his identity as a clone and the pressure of the public eye, Superboy has strong development in the comics, even saving Peacemaker from Arkham in Suicide Squad #1. Even when he shows his inexperience, Superboy is a valuable asset on any team.
Kara Zor-El/Supergirl
A contender to Superman himself is his cousin, Supergirl. Kara Zor-El didn't get the opportunity to grow up on the countryside of planet earth—she was sent there only as Krypton went up in flames. As a teenager faced with the new concept of self-control in relation to her powers, she is often over the top, but rarely wavering in her good will.
Supergirl is a respected member of Young Justice, when she's not saving the world by herself. A telling sign that she still needs to grow up is when she ed the Red Lanterns in the popular Red Daughter of Krypton comics. While she has moments like these, she is still one of the best kid superheroes.
Virgil Hawkins/Static
A kid superhero that will finally get more screen-time is Static Shock. The teenage hero of the early 2000s self-titled show was announced to return for Static: Shadows of Dakota. Static has been a foundational character in recent DC Comics, however, first appearing in Static #1 in 1993.
Virgil goes from a nerdy, bullied kid in school to an eccentric and strong-headed superhero. His childhood is incredibly relatable to many, but his powers far exceed peoples' expectation of him. Static is an underrated kid superhero, but still powerful.
M'Gann M'orzz/Miss Martian
Perhaps the strongest kid superhero in DC Comics is a White Martian. First appearing in Teen Titans #37, Miss Martian carries much of the strength of Martian Manhunter, and could possibly defeat him in time.
As a refugee from her home planet, she s the Teen Titans for a time and becomes a valuable asset. Miss Martian's power far exceeds any human superheroes (like Robin), and she might have the best chance at defeating Superboy, should the need ever arise.
