The Inhumans have continued to be a force to be reckoned with in the Marvel Comics universe. While Black Bolt might have recently been bested by the Scarlet Witch on the big screen in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, on the page, the character is far more formidable.

Using his incredible Inhuman abilities, King Black Bolt has defeated some of the most powerful heroes and villains in Marvel history. Some of these confrontations may be incredibly surprising, but due to that dangerous voice, Blackagar Boltagon has often come out of combat situations on top.

Maximus The Mad

Maximus Boltagon might not be powerful in the traditional sense. While he doesn't boast the Inhuman abilities of the rest of his family, as the brother of the King, he has a huge amount of political sway. Plus, he's one of the most intelligent characters in comics, with a tactical mind that has beaten the Inhumans on multiple levels.

Maximus is a difficult foe to face off against, especially for those who aren't used to his line of attack. But thanks to Black Bolt's own quick thinking in a bind, and the threat of his monumental voice, Boltagon has soundly beaten Maximus the Mad, even to the point of the brother putting the rivalry behind him.

Psycho-Man

Psycho-Man is a major villain in Marvel Comics who has seemingly long been forgotten about. The character was a dictator in the lands known as the Microverse and thus held both political and physical power. His wide-ranging technological advancements helped him to battle the best of the best.

While Psycho-Man might have been a mainstay villain for characters like The Fantastic Four, it would be Black Bolt and Black Panther who teamed up to defeat this frightening threat. Interestingly, Psycho-Man was backed up by the Spider-Man foe Sandman, but even this wasn't enough to push back against the dynamic duo.

Hulk

There are countless powerful Hulks across the Marvel multiverse, but the original Bruce Banner iteration must be among the strongest. Black Bolt and Hulk have actually battled in numerous scenarios, and it will always be assumed that Hulk can push against the King's voice.

However, the Illuminati were able to defeat Hulk and send him into space. Black Bolt was key in that, using his voice to destabilize the creature (although, in this context, Bolt was actually a Skrull imposter, meaning the immensity of his gift would have been weakened). The real Black Bolt would thus have been more effective in beating the green goliath.

Vulcan

Vulcan is the third Summers brother, alongside Cyclops and Havok. He is arguably the most powerful of the three, with the Mutant fashioning himself into an emperor. He is so unpredictable and distrusted that even the X-Men have held him at an arm's length.

Representing their respective kingdoms though, Black Bolt and Vulcan would be involved in such an extreme battle that it seemed all involved had perished. Blackagar was the one to survive the encounter, allowing for a new era to be born from the defeat of Vulcan.

Ronan The Acc

Ronan the Acc

The Kree have been a consistent force of evil in the lives of the Inhumans. After all, they are the species responsible for this variation in traditional evolution. Ronan the Acc is a forceful entity within the Kree Empire and has been both friend and foe.

With the animosity between the Inhumans and the Kree, it's hardly surprising that these two leaders within the influential alien societies have come to blows. While Ronan has a number of impressive victories to his name, he was beaten by Black Bolt in an incredible display that cemented the Inhumans' status.

Quicksilver

Quicksilver has been a thorn in the side of the Inhumans, especially after stealing some of the most vital resources in their society; the Terrigen Crystals. Pietro Maximoff is one of the few speedsters in the Marvel Universe and is definitely difficult to defeat.

However, when Black Bolt eventually gets to confront the speedster over his theft, he loses complete control. He doesn't just conquer the X-Man, but he refuses to stop, almost killing the Mutant. While it was a moment of weakness for the King, it's a resounding sign of how powerful he can be.

Kree And Skrulls

The Kree and the Skrulls are the natural enemy of one another and indeed the kingdom of Attilan itself. After the Secret Invasion, Black Bolt pledged to use the full resources at his disposal to set the place of the Inhumans in the galaxy. His leadership would take on a new meaning.

Weaponizing the very home in which the Inhumans live, Black Bolt hunted down the Skrull and even attacked the Kree, defeating all aspects of the society that he came across, with the full might of Attilan at his back. It was a defining moment for the King.

Cyclops

Cyclops might be less powerful than his brother Vulcan, but not only are his Mutant abilities still capable of stopping Black Bolt in his tracks, his role on the Krakoan Council and within the X-Men makes him vitally important. The two leaders faced off after manipulation from Emma Frost.

Black Bolt would lash out and actually kill Cyclops in one of the best comics, creating a diplomatic crisis between the two societies on another level. Perhaps without the intervention the results might have been different, but this was a stern warning that Black Bolt could defeat one of the Mutant's best.

Doctor Strange

While the majority of the discussion has been confined to the comic book reality of Earth-616, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has also revealed that even with the power of the Darkhold, Doctor Strange cannot resist the sonic scream of Black Bolt.

Blackagar Boltagon was the executioner of Stephen Strange, and nothing could stop that force from wiping out the Doctor from existence. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, indicated that Black Bolt was a powerful member of the Illuminati, although he clearly wasn't strong another to face the Scarlet Witch.

The Avengers

Marvel loves to produce an event narrative that pits some of the major comic book teams against one another. The Inhumans and the X-Men have fought for this very reason, but they also briefly battled the Avengers occasionally. One of the most notable was after chasing Quicksilver.

The enraged Inhumans wanted to reclaim what had been stolen from them and the Avengers stepped in to provide to the defenders of the Pentagon, where the Terrigen Crystals and a captured Gorgon were held. The Inhumans won on that day, with Black Bolt leading the charge in defeating their rivals.
