Anyone who has been wondering what the most unpopular Pokémon is need look no further. Data has been compiled, fans were asked to vote, and the jury is out. There are many, many Pokémon out there so narrowing it down to a most and least favorite is quite the challenge, but one with very interesting results.
With 9 generations of Pokémon and more to come, there are over 1000 Pokémon people have to sort through to find their favorites. This usually leaves quite a few out, although almost every Pokémon does have a fan out there somewhere due to the sheer number of Pokémon fans and how long the franchise has been growing. However, there is one Pokémon with less fans than most.

Rellor Is The Most Unpopular Pokémon
The Least Favorite Of Them All
Rellor, according to YouTuber Thomas Game Docs who put together this research project, is the most unpopular Pokémon. Thomas put this research together by putting together a voting system on a website built from the ground up. This was an improved system from an earlier version, and in total there were 1025 Pokémon to rank. This was every Pokémon Thomas compiled that had a unique Pokédex entry.

Pokémon TCG Pocket Preps Players For Mythical Island Release With Free Giveaways
The devs of Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket have announced a new giveaway to help prep for the new expansion, Mythical Island, next week.
There was a huge amount of voting data, which Thomas could compare to an older part of this research he did using Google search results. When all was said and done, the bottom 20 tended to include a fair number of odd and Pokémon that seemed to be bad ideas altogether. This included Pokémon like The Diapered Pokémon and those that were forgettable and unremarkable like Cascoon. At the very bottom is Rellor, The Rolling Pokémon, designed after a dung beetle.
Why Everyone Seems To Hate Rellor
What Makes Rellor So Unlikeable
Thomas speculates that Rellor is a victim of being 1) designed after a dung beetle, 2) having nothing remarkable to set them apart from other similar, bug Pokemon, and 3) being a Generation 9 Pokémon. The last one was mainly due to the Scarlet & Violet games being both controversial and brand new. Many fans might not have grown attached to these Pokémon yet, although there are some Gen 9 favorites among fans.
It could just be that Rellor is completely unremarkable. Bug Pokémon have done quite well within the fanbase when they are well-designed. However, they can also be less memorable when they all seem to run together. There are a fair number of beetle-like Pokémon now, and the general idea of a beetle Pokémon feels overdone. With Rellor being the latest entry, it makes sense that they would also be the least liked. In this case, it is much more about Rellor being underwhelming than it is being actively hated. After all, who wants to vote for them?
Why Rellor Isn't Surprising As The Most Unpopular Pokémon
So Unremarkable It Is Entirely Forgotten
There is not much to be surprised about here. Many of the bottom 20 are Pokémon that people just don’t care about rather than those that spark a lot of controversy. Pokémon that do spark controversy often have lots of contenders on both sides - the haters and the lovers. Some might even make it as monsters into Dungeons & Dragons. However, the bottom 20 are those that have just failed to make an impact. No one stands up for them on the other side of things because no one cares that much. In a fandom with over 1000 unique Pokémon, one of them has to sit at the bottom.
Rellor is just simply lost among the masses in a Pokemon-type that already feels over-saturated. There are plenty of Bug-types to choose from, and even those that exist are not often people’s favorites. There are always exceptions, but many people don’t like bugs very much and will avoid these Pokémon - like or not. There is also no current typing that is only weak to Bug-types. In fact, those that are have at least two other major weaknesses.

After 20 Long Years, I Finally Understand the Ending of the Pokémon Anime's Iconic First Episode: Here's What You Need to Know
Ash's encounter with the legendary bird Ho-Oh in Pokemon's first episode has never been truly explained after two decades, until now.
This makes the Bug-type fairly unremarkable on the whole, and Rellor just happens to be at the bottom of it. This is unfortunate for Rellor themselves, but not a big surprise overall. The second least popular is Bruxish, which is a little more of a surprise due to its colorful appearance and status as the Hawaiian state fish. However, once more the field is saturated with fish-like Pokémon, and perhaps people are just looking for something new in their Pokédex entries in the next generation of Pokémon.
