Among the foldable smartphones expected to launch this year is the Motorola Razr 2023, and while its release date is still months away, there are already some key details available. After taking a break from the foldable smartphone category for a few years, Motorola finally launched the successor to the 2019 Motorola Razr 5G in 2022. The phone was first unveiled in China in August 2022, before being launched globally in October the same year. Unfortunately, the phone wasn't released in the United States.

The Razr 2023 is one of two foldable smartphones Motorola is expected to announce this year. Codenamed “Juno”, the smartphone will be sporting a new design, as seen in images shared by tipster Evan Blass. The images, combined with details provided last year and new information about the launch date, paint a clear picture of what to expect when the foldable phone launches.

A New Design Paired With Familiar Specs

The images show the Motorola Razr 2023's big design change will be the cover display, which will take up almost the entire area, with cut-outs made for the rear cameras and LED flash. Previously, Motorola Razr smartphones had the biggest cover display for clamshell-style foldable smartphones, but that title has been snatched by the Oppo Find N2 Flip, which has a 3.26-inch cover display that trumps the Razr 2022's 2.7-inch screen. With this new design, Motorola may reclaim the title.

The Motorola Razr 2023 will have dual rear cameras like its predecessor, but it's unclear if a resolution bump is expected. According to details provided by Blass last October, the phone will be powered by the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, the same chipset inside the Motorola Razr 2022. The main display's size is currently unknown, but it will have a 144Hz refresh rate like last year's model.

While there are limited details about the specifications, Blass recently claimed that the smartphone will be announced on June 1, 2023. The availability hasn't been confirmed yet, and there's a chance that Motorola might skip the U.S. launch this time around too. However, Motorola's second foldable smartphone for 2023 might make its way to the country. Codenamed “Venus,” details about this smartphone are scarce, but buyers can expect it to be launched after the Motorola Razr 2023 makes its debut.
