Warning: Spoilers for Ms. Marvel episode 3 ahead.
A twist in Ms. Marvel reveals where Kamala Khan’s (Iman Vellani) mysterious bracelet came from, but it was a twist already spoiled in episode 1. In Ms. Marvel episode 3, “Destined,” viewers are introduced to the ClanDestines, a group of Djinn from the Noor Dimension, whose leader, Najma (Nimra Bucha), explains to Kamala that the bracelet also originates from there. While there are still many questions about the Noor Dimension, it turns out that viewers might have already been given a glimpse of this new setting in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The reveal of Kamala’s true heritage and the introduction of the Noor Dimension and the Djinn into the MCU was an exciting revelation in Ms. Marvel episode 3, but this was all seemingly revealed back in episode 1, with a few other clues along the way that led some viewers to speculate that Kamala was a Djinn and the ClanDestines would be making an appearance at some point. Perhaps there would have been more of a shock-and-awe impact if audiences hadn’t been given a glimpse of the Noor Dimension back in episode 1.
Shortly after Kamala first puts on the bracelet in Ms. Marvel episode 1, “Generation Why,” she is thrust backward into what seems to be another dimension before snapping back to the reality of AvengerCon. While viewers are only given a short glimpse of this other world, it appears to be an empty place filled with a multitude of silhouette figures with glowing eyes. After the revelation in Ms. Marvel episode 3 about the Noor Dimension and its connection to the bracelet, it’s obvious that this is where Kamala traveled to. While this place hasn’t yet been explored further in Ms. Marvel, it can be assumed that the figures watching Kamala are Djinn and that this is where the bracelet originates from.
This isn’t the first time viewers have seen worlds similar to this one in the MCU, most notably the Ancestral Plane witnessed in incredible powers as Ms. Marvel and connects her to her ancestors and the dimension from which they come.
In old folklore stories, the Djinn are often viewed as evil, sometimes demonic, beings, which would explain the representation of the nefarious ClanDestines in Ms. Marvel, who will stop at nothing to retrieve the bracelet from Kamala and return home from their exile. This could perhaps also explain why the figures in Kamala’s brief trip to the Noor Dimension in episode 1 were shown to be dark and hidden in the shadows, forming a crowd around Kamala as if to scare her. Hopefully, more will be revealed about these strange figures as the season moves into its second half.
While not much has been uncovered about the Noor Dimension and the beings that live there, the revelation that this place exists within the MCU is enough to form connections to the wider world of Ms. Marvel and the MCU as a whole. There is clearly more to discover about the Noor Dimension and the energy that provides Kamala and the Djinn with their abilities. Perhaps the next few episodes of Ms. Marvel will give viewers a better look behind the curtain.
Ms. Marvel releases new episodes on Wednesdays on Disney+.
