It's extremely difficult to sum up what makes a great player on MTV's reality competition show The Challenge. Being good at the game is just one facet of becoming a Challenge legend, and often times those players who have been permanently imprinted on the audience's mind are so memorable for different reasons.
Every player plays the game a bit differently, and when it comes to the person and competitor that is portrayed on the screen, the most iconic challengers are diverse and unique. But from what they've shown on the series, which MBTI personality type would the best known Challenge players fall into?
Jordan Wiseley - ENTJ
ENTJ personality types are sometimes called the "Commander" of the Myers-Briggs personality. On the plus side, they can be natural leaders and they are borderline impossible to defeat.
But on the negative, they can obviously be stubborn, willful, and often project the super high expectations that they have for themselves on to others as well, which seems to be a particular problem for Jordan as a player.
Ashley Mitchell - ENFP
Those with Ashley's personality type sort of embody an interesting duality. On the one hand they tend to be very social and popular, and on the other they tend to be quite free spirited.
The ENFP, also sometimes referred to as the "Campaigner" or the "Inspirer," has a natural talent for games like The Challenge where being socially adept and capable of improvising can be the key to winning instead of losing.
Diem Brown - INFP
INFP personality types may be introverts, but they tend to stick out in a crowd anyway. Much like Diem, it's their natural kindness and sincerity that attracts people to them.
Although they don't always feel like they fit in among their peers, they tend to get along with everyone and value peace. They are also excellent at seeing the good inside of everyone, hence why they've earned the title of "Mediator".
Darrell Taylor - ISTJ
ISTJ's are also called the "Logistician," in large part because they are just very practical and straightforward.
Much like Darrell, these personality types are usually good at flying under the radar despite the fact that they're extremely talented, and instead of letting their impulses or temper get the best of them, they actually look at things from a more neutral perspective and act in their own best interest based on their logical conclusions.
Evelyn Smith - ISTJ
Although Ev seems to have left The Challenge far behind, she still stands out as one of the most legendary and best players in the game's history.
And it comes as no surprise that she and Darrell seem to occupy similar positions in Challenge lore, as their play styles seem to be quite similar. Evelyn did let her emotions get ahead of her on occasion, but for the most part she just puzzled out the game and did what she had to in order to win.
Laurel Stucky - ESTJ
ESTJ's are the "Executive" side of the MBTI, and that sums up Laurel's performance and behavior in the game pretty well. Even in her first season she had a great handle on things and was in charge of a lot, and she's only become a stronger player since.
She's not only good enough to win the game on her own, she's great at making maneuvers like convincing Josh to throw Wes in (even if it backfired on her in the end).
Cara Maria Sorbello - INFP
Cara Maria is yet another "Mediator" personality type, although the differences between Cara and Diem demonstrate how different similar MBTI's can be.
Cara embodies the more socially isolated version of the Mediator, as those in the INFP personality type can sometimes feel like they don't fit in or understand the people around them. However, that difference in personalities doesn't make them mean, if anything INFP's are known for being big softies.
CT Tamburello - ISTP
CT is actually a perfect example of the fact that someone's MBTI type can change over time. The CT of the early years clearly wouldn't be considered an introvert, however now he's much more low key and isn't prone to as many outbursts.
ISTP's are also called the "Virtuoso," because while they do tend to be loners, they are also brilliant and skilled at many different things, something CT has clearly displayed throughout his tenure on the series.
Wes Bergmann - ENTJ
Despite starting off on the wrong foot with a lot of people during Fresh Meat, it didn't take long for Wes to adjust and use his more commanding personality traits for his own benefit in the game.
Wes is generally good at manipulating his fellow players to his own advantage, but more importantly, even if he finds himself in a disadvantaged position at some point, he's pretty solid at flipping the script and gaining the upper hand again.
Johnny "Bananas" Devenanzio - ESFP
Honestly, given that Wes and Bananas' trajectory throughout the course of the game is so similar, it's hard not to gauge them as the same MBTI type.
However, the way in which they significantly differ is that while Wes is always looking for an angle in of his political game play, Johnny typically knows exactly why he keeps getting call backs. Yes, being great at the game is a factor, the "Entertainer".
