With the MultiVersus is a fighting game from Player First Games and Warner Bros. that features characters from popular television shows like Scooby Doo and Game of Thrones, as well as DC superheroes like Batman and Superman. Early on the game has been overwhelmingly positive, with many players praising the character roster and customization. However, others have criticized that many of MultiVersus' coolest cosmetics are locked behind a paywall, and can only be purchased using the fighting game’s paid currency, Gleamium.

MultiVersus features multiple currencies, including coins that can be earned through gameplay. Currently, players can unlock all of the available playable characters in MultiVersus' open beta using coins, without the need to spend any real money on Gleamium. However, this could change in the future, as MultiVersus has yet to release its full character roster for launch, so some characters may be locked behind a paywall. Though some of the game’s cosmetics can be earned by leveling up characters or progressing through the game’s Battle , many can only be purchased with Gleamium.

According to Gleamium players can get in MultiVersus. 13 of the 17 character skins currently available in MultiVersus can only be purchased with Gleamium, totalling 14,450 Gleamium, which works out around $125. This is a steep price tag but, as only cosmetic content is locked behind a paywall, players can still enjoy most of what MultiVersus has to offer, most importantly, its roster of licensed characters.

How Much It Costs To Unlock Every Item In MultiVersus

The other items in MultiVersus that are currently only unlockable using Gleamium include VFX animations, taunts, emotes, and banners. While these add exciting new elements to the Smash Bros. and Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl competitor, they are cosmetic and have little impact on gameplay other than visual effects. Some of these items can only be procured through MultiVersus'  Battle , which currently costs 300 Gleamium. Sadly, it looks like this Battle can only be purchased with paid currency, so players will have to purchase at least the 450 Gleamium pack (the smallest amount available) if they wish to unlock the Battle .

Fortunately, most of the MultiVersus content locked behind a paywall is cosmetic-only, meaning that players can enjoy the game to its fullest, including unlocking all of MultiVersus' characters from different Warner Bros. franchises, without having to spend any money. The one item avid MultiVersus players might want to invest in is the Battle . Though the current pre-season Battle is limited to only 15 tiers, and therefore not particularly rewarding, the first season Battle is expected to include 50 tiers of rewards, making it especially worthwhile for die-hard fans.
