Several leaks have been proven in one fell swoop with the release of MultiVersus's reveal trailer, which shows the Smash Bros-inspired WB Games title will be free-to-play and star a diverse roster including Justice League Batman, Wonder Woman, and Superman, as well as Scooby Doo's Shaggy. The game was an open secret prior to its official announcement, as many unofficial details gave a clear picture of what MultiVersus is now confirmed to be.

Initial MultiVersus could feature LeBron James as its first DLC fighter following the NBA star's leading role in Space Jam: A New Legacy.

On Thursday, MultiVersus characters Gandalf and LeBron James named in earlier leaks weren't mentioned, however.

In the MultiVersus trailer, director Tony Hyunh emphasizes the game's emphasis on teamplay, particularly spotlighting characters' cooperative moves in 2v2. A press release clarifies there will be also be 1v1 and 4-player free-for-all modes, and Hyunh states solo play will be ed, as well, implying MultiVersus will include AI-controlled bots similar to Super Smash Bros. and  Brawl. MultiVersus stages shown so far include the Batcave from Batman and Finn and Jake's Tree Fort from Adventure Time, and it's likely each character will have their own themed stage.

Between Super Smash Bros. Ultimate on Nintendo Switch, rival multiplatform game Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl's updates, and a number of indies like Brawlhalla and Rivals of AetherMultiVersus will enter an increasingly cramped platform fighter genre when it releases in 2022. However, its free-to-play model, fully voiced roster, and iconic cast of WB characters could help MultiVersus to stand out from the crowd.
