My Hero Academia fans are building excitement for the imminent premiere of the spinoff anime, My Hero Academia Vigilantes, and a new image from Bones promoting the seasons of both series is a fan's dream come true. The two series are both due out this year, and that's led to some interesting new marketing from studio Bones.

The insanely popular My Hero Academia is headed into its final season, but fans won't have to leave that world entirely, thanks to the new spinoff/prequel series, which is launching its first season on April 7, 2025. The new series should help tide fans over for the wait for the final season of My Hero Academia, which is due out in Autumn 2025. As both series are being produced by Bones, it's no surprise that they're being marketed together in a new poster, but it marks the first time that Deku and Vigilantes protagonist Koichi Haimawari have been pictured together.

The collaborative poster teases the team up of Koichi and Deku, the two protagonists of their respective series. Both Koichi and Deku are huge All Might fans, and would likely get along great if they were to meet. However, given the difference in the settings of the two series (about 5 years), Koichi would be active when Midoriya was still in elementary school, meaning any such team up is unlikely to actually take place. Still, the image alone is pretty exciting for fans, and they can always hope for some non-canonical meeting in marketing for the two series.

Do Deku and Koichi Ever Actually Get to Meet?

The Two Heroes Never Truly Cross Paths

Inko and Koichi My Hero Academia Vigilantes

My Hero Academia and Vigilantes take place in slightly different time periods, and due to the way each series ends, the two heroes never actually get an opportunity to meet. Koichi does have a small cameo in My Hero Academia's final chapters, helping clean up the aftermath of the final battle, but doesn't encounter Deku in the manga. Koichi also meets several people that Deku knows, including a brief encounter with his mother, Inko Midoriya, and his teacher, Shota Aizawa, who has a fairly large role in Vigilantes and gets to know Koichi well. They even share some villains in common, although they're unlikely to remark on Koichi.

It's definitely a bit of a shame that Koichi and Deku don't actually get to meet canonically, but it makes sense that they wouldn't necessarily encounter one another, given the very different worlds they live in, with one a vigilante and the other a hero student. There's also a time period difference to consider, and Koichi is living a very different life by the time Deku is active. Therefore, seeing both in action on this poster is an exciting tease, and perhaps some day the connection between the two My Hero Academia series can be deepened by having Koichi meet with Deku under proper circumstances.
