Warning: SPOILERS for My Hero Academia Season 6 episode #136The Deku and his friend/rival Bakugo was already one of the highlights of the manga, but the anime has improved it even more.

Episode #136 of My Hero Academia, "Deku vs. Class A", is one of the most emotional in the entire series. Izuku Midoriya (Deku) has left his friends behind to protect them from All For One, embarking on a lonely crusade to root out the villain, which pushed him to complete physical and mental exhaustion. To bring him back, Deku's friends from Class 1-A decide to confront him, knowing that he won't listen to them unless they use force. The most important moment is when Bakugo, Deku's childhood friend, apologizes to him for the first time for his terrible behavior in the past and its he has actually always been jealous of Izuku.

Deku And Bakugo's Complex Relationship Culminates In This Incredible Scene

bakugo apologizes to deku in my hero academia

Midoriya and Bakugo have a very complicated relationship. At the start of the series, Bakugo is constantly bullying Izuku for his lack of a Quirk, despite the fact that Midoriya looks up to him and considers him a true friend. When they both enter U.A. High, their relationship starts to evolve, as Bakugo realizes that, now that Deku has a Quirk, he could be a better hero than him, who has always been considered a natural talent. Bakugo started moving past his jealousy and frustration after he discovered the secret of Deku's Quirk, One For All, and his relationship with All Might, and he proved how much he cares for his friends when he almost died protecting him from All For One's attack during the Paranormal Liberation War.

In this episode, Bakugo finally opens up in front of everyone. He says that, even when Izuku didn't have a Quirk, his attitude always made him feel inferior, revealing that this is the reason why Bakugo actually bullied Deku. For the first time, the proud and confident Bakugo openly apologizes, even going as far as bowing his head. It's a key moment in the story, and the anime captures it beautifully, having Deku and Bakugo appear as kids, then slowly grow up during the dialogue. This happened in the manga too, but the anime clearly has the capacity to make this scene even more emotional, with the smooth transitions, changing the voices of the characters to match the different stages of Deku and Bakugo's lives, and a beautiful soundtrack to accompany all.

Bakugo Has The Best Character Development In My Hero Academia

Bakugo's evolution as a character is possibly the most interesting subplot in My Hero Academia. While all Class 1-A students cooperated to bring Deku back, it was Bakugo's words and his change of attitude that finally broke through Izuku. Considering how important the relationship between the two characters is, this was the perfect decision for the story. The My Hero Academia anime did a perfect job of adapting this fundamental scene with Deku and Bakugo, making it even better than it was in the manga.
