My Hero Academia creator Kohei Horikoshi is still releasing new artwork for the series, and he just dropped his best piece yet. Ever since the manga’s early days, Horikoshi would often draw extra art to go along with things like new volume or episode releases, or sometimes just for fun, and it would always serve as both great promotion and an excellent way of showing off Horikoshi’s artistic prowess.
Even with My Hero Academia having ended almost a year ago, that hasn’t stopped Kohei Horikoshi from making new artwork whenever he can. Ever since the manga’s ending, Horikoshi has occasionally been dropping new art of his characters on X, with jaw-dropping artwork of Shigaraki and Aizawa being notable standouts, and in celebration of an art exhibit, Kohei Horikoshi has released new artwork featuring a gorgeous depiction of the heroes and villains in the final battle. It’s probably the best artwork Horikoshi has ever released, and it’s the perfect thing to see before the final battle in season 8.
Why My Hero Academia’s New Art Display Is So Incredible
The Ins & Outs Of Kohei Horikoshi's Incredible New Art
Just from a cursory glance at Kohei Horikoshi’s new artwork, it’s easy to see why it’s so good. Not only is the lineart of Horikoshi’s artwork as detailed and overall great as ever, but the color palette he went with does a perfect job of bringing the characters and the environment to life by coming off as dark and expressive at the same time. Everything great about My Hero Academia’s artwork from a purely visual level is on full display in Kohei Horikoshi’s latest work, and it’s great to look at because of that.
What truly makes it great, though, is the framing of the piece. Not only are the heroes and villains perfectly paired off with their main opponents in the final battle, but the way the clouds part to illuminate the scene gives it almost a biblical feel, something further ed by Bakugo and Shigaraki’s pairing vaguely resembles The Creation of Adam. The stellar visuals of My Hero Academia’s new artwork work as well as they do because of the thematic elements presented in it, and Kohei Horikoshi has never released a piece of artwork that’s done quite as good a job.
My Hero Academia’s New Artwork Is The Perfect Segway Into The Final Season
My Hero Academia's Final Season Will Be Even Bigger Than Before
The best thing about My Hero Academia’s new artwork, of course, is how it relates to the anime. My Hero Academia’s eighth and final season will premiere this fall, not long after the art exhibition featuring the new piece will have run its course, so with the two running so close to one another, My Hero Academia releasing such stunning new artwork for its final battle works as a perfect ment for the anime being on the cusp of finally finishing it.
Whether that was intentional or not is unknown, but that doesn’t make it any less effective. One of the best parts about watching the anime has always been seeing the new artwork Kohei Horikoshi would put out for each new episode, and with that in mind, Kohei Horikoshi’s latest My Hero Academia artwork is the ultimate expression of the constant synergy between the anime and manga. Kohei Horikoshi’s latest art piece is the perfect reminder of why My Hero Academia is so great visually and narratively, and hopefully, it won’t be the last example of such.
