10 Underrated TV Shows That Are Returning In 2025

There are so many great TV and streaming series out there right now, and some excellent but under-the-radar shows are returning in 2025.

Titans' Rift

Season 2, Episode 1

Following the success of season 1, anticipation was high for the return of Mythic Quest - and the season 2 premiere, "Titan's Quest", didn't disappoint. The episode saw Poppy and Ian at loggerheads, with significant creative differences about the direction of the new Mythic Quest expansion causing a rift between them. Tensions were also incredibly high due to Poppy being promoted to co-creative director, which added an interesting new dynamic to the show.

"Titan's Quest" also stands out as one of the best Mythic Quest episodes for its romantic subplots. Poppy has a hilarious sexual nightmare about Ian that cemented there would be no will-they-won't-they arc between them in the sitcom (a refreshing creative decision). There's also a hilarious, and heartfelt, escalation of the bubbling romance between Dana and Rachel - and the frustration of Carol from HR that they both come to her for advice adds an extra dose of comedy to how it's handled.

Brendan

Season 1, Episode 8

The penultimate episode of Mythic Quest season 1, "Brendan", finally delves into one of the funniest characters in the show - the streamer Pootie Shoe, AKA Brendan Grimm (Elisha Henig). The character was already a hilarious parody of video game streaming stars, but Mythic Quest puts it own spin on things when it's revealed in "Brendan" that the titular character is, in fact the son of Ian Grimm.

Like many of the best Mythic Quest episodes, "Brendan" is also an exploration of many concepts unique to the world of modern gaming. In this case, streaming. The sub-plot focuses on Dana being outed as a Mythic Quest employee to fans of her own streaming show. The episode explores many moral and ethical questions about streamers and sponsorship, but never loses its hilarious edge along the way.

Dinner Party

Season 1, Episode 3

Mythic Quest got off to a strong start, and it's early season 1 episodes like "Dinner Party" that ensured the series managed to gain a strong following almost instantly. The episode starts with a relatively simple premise - Poppy creates a new function for the game that allows players to host advanced social gatherings within the virtual world of Mythic Quest.

However, things quickly turn sour when many players start using the new feature to spread hate speech and carry out other forms of toxic behavior. The episode not only represents Mythic Quest on top comedic form, but also delves into the considerable social problem that online hate speech represents. This was deliberate on the part of the creative team, with Megan Ganz explaining to Decider:

“Anytime you have a world that you’ve created with millions of people in it, you’re gonna get a few bad apples within that group. It seemed like a real juicy area for them to have to like struggle with and also, again, comedic because the stakes are very high and also the optics are very bad and so they want to get it handled right away.”

Breaking Brad

Season 2, Episode 4

Featured Danny Pudi Mythic Quest Season 2

The fourth episode of season 2 shows Brad’s masterful manipulation of office politics slowly coming to fruition, as Poppy’s Battle Royale mode gets more love from Montreal. Brad’s investment has paid off, but this success is about to come tumbling down as his brother, Zach, enters the room.

The episode explores the strange dynamic between Brad and his seemingly congenial brother, who insists on celebrating Brad’s birthday in the office. Jo doesn’t buy Brad’s explanation about his brother wanting to take advantage of the company by scoping it out and destroying it from the inside. Viewers likely can’t help but feel bad for Brad here, who’s genuinely worried about the game studio but can’t get anyone to believe him instead of Zach.

Buffalo Chicken Pizza

Season 3, Episode 10

The Mythic Quest season 3 episode, "Buffalo Chicken Pizza", ranks among the best episodes of the show for several reasons - though chief among them is that it showcases many of the characters having to deal with failure. The episode opens with Poppy exhausted on the floor, David leaning his project is dead, and Brad trying to find a reason to keep striving forward in life.

Like many of the show's most memorable installments, "Buffalo Chicken Pizza" is as much an exploration of the psychology of the characters as it is packed full of hilarious moments. It's almost the total opposite of the season 3 premiere too, with the success the likes of Poppy, David, and Brad found when the show returned in 2022 coming full circle. Choosing whether to accept defeat or not is an important skill in any profession, and Mythic Quest delves into it through the lens of video game production perfectly.

Blood Ocean

With the workers on strike and Ian and David in danger of losing their jobs, the team has to work together to figure out how to convince Montreal to grant employees overtime pay.

In the fifth episode of Mythic Quest season 2, Carol has to work with Ian, Rachel, Dana, Sue, Brad, Jo, Ericka, and eventually, Poppy, who are not happy about the animal they’ve been assigned based on the test.

Things get especially heated when Poppy and Ian are both assigned the lion, with Ian insisting there can only be one alpha. Dana and Rachel have an even bigger misunderstanding when Dana reveals she’s leaving the game studio to pursue further studies. Mythic Quest has a ton of references to real-life gaming and a lot of them were showcased in season 1, episode 7, aptly titled "Permadeath." When a hacker threatens to compromise the entire game from the inside, Ian boldly challenges him to an in-game showdown, which the entire team helps him prepare for.

It’s an epic battle that at first, looks like it will end with Ian’s character losing in the most humiliating fashion. Thankfully, with Poppy’s encouragement, Ian manages to turn it around and gain the upper hand. There’s a delightfully surprising twist when the hacker’s real identity is revealed, which becomes even more absurd after the next episode explores that same person’s true relationship with Ian.

The final episode of Mythic Quest season 2 wraps up one of the best slow-burn romances on TV after Dana and Rachel both decide to pursue their ions. Their drama fades into the background later on, however, when Ian and Poppy shock audiences by deciding they’re leaving Mythic Quest.

No one is ready for the pair’s decision to move on, especially not David, who immediately begins worrying about how he’s supposed to find two new creative directors. Meanwhile, Brad decides to save Jo by taking the fall for her in front of the Feds, saying that getting arrested for insider training will help his street cred. It’s a chaotic episode that leaves a lot of loose ends for a potential third season to explore.

Season 1, Episode 11

The second special episode of Mythic Quest released between seasons 1 and 2 (that's officially counted as episode 11 of seaosn 1) gave fans an unexpected invitation to a grand costume party. The entire office is transformed into a medieval town, with a stage meant for tournaments for the costumed employees.

Brad spoils everyone’s fun by betting that he can take everyone on and if he wins, the Everlight party must never happen again. It’s up to Ian and Poppy, now co-creative directors, to make sure that doesn’t happen. The overdramatization of the tournaments, down to the final dream sequence, is a treat for fans who have been waiting for the delayed second season. It’s also an episode of Mythic Quest that explores the conflict between Ian and Poppy who are not yet used to ruling side by side.
