Mythic Quest's Murder Mystery Episode Was A Fun Challenge

"Getting to do a full episode in a British accent was thrilling for me."

ScreenRant: The murder mystery episode this season is fantastic. Was it as much fun to film as it was to watch?

Jessie Ennis: It was thrilling. It was so unexpected and just a fun challenge to flex these muscles as actors that we don't usually get to do in our regular episodes. I mean, every episode is challenging in its own way, but that episode called upon us to do unique ways of walking, and we got to wear costumes that we would never otherwise wear as these characters. And of course, getting to do a full episode in a British accent was thrilling for me.

Naomi Ekperigin: Did you see my outfit? I loved every second of the outfit. I would like to keep the wig. I was in heaven. I was like, "Can I dress like this all day, every day?", but also, it took me 10 minutes to go to the bathroom. So that's why I can't do that.

ScreenRant: With the heavy themes of work-life balance this season, is there anything you feel like you took away personally?

Jessie Ennis: I don't have work-life balance. I mean, my balance is that we work for a pretty condensed period of time, and then we have many months of unemployment. So for me, I dive full into work when I'm working and I don't really see anybody. The weekends are considered still working, and then I see them once I'm wrapped. So I'm not someone who's going to give you good advice about how to find that balance.

Naomi Ekperigin: I love a work-life balance. I say do you. Take care of you.

Naomi Ekperigin & Jessie Ennis Were Eager To Explore New Sides Of Their Characters This Season

"It was so fun to be the messy one for once."

ScreenRant: Without getting into spoilers, Carol creates a bit of drama in the workplace this season. How fun was it for you to explore that side of her?

Naomi Ekperigin: I did not see it coming, and it was so fun. I was like, our girl is off the rails. That is how I felt when I read the script. It was so fun to be the messy one for once. It really was. After being supposed to be the put together adult in the room, it was like, no, she is not put together. She is chaos.

ScreenRant: What were you most excited to explore with Jo this season?

Jessie Ennis: I had so much fun. I had so much extracurricular training that I had to do for this season. But the thing I enjoyed the most was this journey that she goes on to find herself in the way that it kind of takes a full circle trip. She, by the end of it, has gotten right back to where we started, which I found to be really funny and a brilliant idea of Megan Ganz.

Naomi Ekperigin & Jessie Ennis Attribute Mythic Quest's Wide Variety Of Characters To Its Success

"You've got the sociopath of Jo alongside the no-nonsense hot mess of Carol, alongside the terrifying Brad."

Brad and in the Mythic Quest episode Titans Rift

ScreenRant: What do you think it is about Mythic Quest that resonates with viewers all around the world?

Naomi Ekperigin: I think it's the distinct characters, because it really is the workplace. It's a motley crew of people, such a diverse group of characters and diverse points of view, right? You've got the sociopath of Jo alongside the no-nonsense hot mess of Carol, alongside the terrifying Brad. You know what I mean? And putting all of these people together and somehow the building hasn't burned down.

Jessie Ennis: These unique characters that all really stand out. I think that the way that the story is told is so special. We have these one-off episodes that feel like movies and such an interesting group of people coming together to tell these stories. I think that you can hear so many people's perspectives through the way the scripts are written. And I really love, I just think, it's such a high-quality show. When you have something that's really high quality, it's easy to draw an audience.

ScreenRant: Now that you know your characters so well, do you ever improv or make suggestions?

Naomi Ekperigin: It starts on the page. It's always on the page. And then we'll have fun. We might, after we've gotten it as written, we'll do some alts that usually Megan or David would give us in the moment, and then some improv. It's a nice blend. And then what you see on screen, you'll get a little taste of the improv in the final cut, but the story is already there. So we don't have to come through it too much. But sometimes we do, and they go, "Can you stop it? Actually? Can you stop doing all this extra stuff?"
