Where can Tomb Raider series. National Treasure definitely falls in that category too, with the first movie being a splashy, Jerry Bruckheimer produced affair starring Nicolas Cage, Diane Kruger and Sean Bean.

National Treasure saw Cage's Benjamin Gates on a mad dash to steal the Declaration of Independence, which contains a secret map that will lead to a hidden treasure. The movie didn't attract great reviews and while it's not on the same level as the Indiana Jones series, it provided slick entertainment. It was a solid success too, which led to most of the cast returning for 2007's National Treasure: Book Of Secrets, which added Helen Mirren and Ed Harris to the ensemble. The sequel was an even bigger hit and teased another adventure, but the franchise soon landed in development hell.

The franchise has a surprisingly ionate fanbase though, and there are plenty of people waiting for the next outing. National Treasure is pretty easy to find online, but it isn't available on Netflix, Hulu or Prime in the U.S. currently - and is very unlikely to be for the foreseeable future. Instead, the movie can be found on Disney+, where it landed in April 2020 after a stay on Netflix; National Treasure: Book Of Secrets is also on the service.

For those not signed up to Disney's streaming platform, National Treasure can be rented or purchased from prices starting at $2.99 from most major platforms, including YouTube, Google Play, Vudu, iTunes and DirecTV. There's also an exclusive National Treasure TV series in the works at Disney+, which according to Jerry Bruckheimer will be the same basic concept but will revolve around a much younger cast.

Which isn't to say Benjamin Gates and friends are being put out to pasture, as The Meg). After a long stretch in development hell it seems the future for the National Treasure franchise is bright, and it would definitely be nice to see Nicolas Cage front a big-budget blockbuster again after many years of STV fare.
