Now, Netflix has confirmed that in spring 2019, they'll add every episode of the classic show Neon Genesis Evangelion, and both movies spawned by the show, Evangelion: Death True 2 and The End of Evangelion. This was revealed at Tokyo's Anime Lineup Presentation event earlier tonight. The entries in the Evangelion franchise have long been hard to find on home video, and unavailable for streaming legally. Netflix acquiring the worldwide rights to stream Evangelion could be a true game changer for its ascendance into the world of anime.

For those hardcore fans - or fans in the making - wondering exactly when they'll be able to add Neon Genesis Evangelion to their Netflix queues, unfortunately, the company has yet to announce an exact release date. At least the confirmed spring timetable guarantees the Neon Genesis Evangelion franchise will become available to stream before the first half of 2019 is over. In the meantime, Netflix's beefy anime selection should serve to satiate many impatient viewers.

Also at the Anime Lineup Presentation, Netflix announced an April 1, 2019 launch date for its previously revealed Ultraman series, which is a new original production and not an acquisition of any prior Ultraman materials by Netflix. The service is also adapting the 7 Seeds manga into an original anime series, also set to launch in April, as is Netflix anime original Rilakkuma and Kaoru, premiering on April 19. Another original, Saint Seiya: Knights of the Zodiac, premieres in the summer.
