Of course, any show that classifies itself as a thriller and has a plot centered around a murder is going to have a host of plot twists and surprises throughout the series. Sometimes these twists are well received and other times, fans find themselves dissatisfied. Take a look at these 5 plot twists we loved and 5 we hated!

Hated: Marina's Pregnancy

Marina caused a lot of trouble leading up to her murder. Most of her bad decisions are tied to her relationship with Nano. While fans couldn't help but root for this couple, the circumstances surrounding their relationship were beyond messed up.

For starters, when Nano and Marina got together, Marina was in a relationship with Nano's brother Samuel. Secondly, Marina's pregnancy turned her into a selfish and chaotic character. From ing out in school to using Carla to get to her dad's watches, Marina had problems. It was clear her plan to run off into the sunset with Nano was shortsighted from the start.

Loved: Lu & Valerio

Lu and Valerio's relationship was a bit of a guilty pleasure. While many fans didn't love the couple together, they did love the drama that emerged as a result of this relationship. Valerio's love for Lu is what helped establish him as a main character in the show.

Had Valerio not outted his relationship with Lu to his father, Lu likely would not have become the sympathetic character she was in season 3. This means the murder cover-up in season 3 and the fan-favorite friendship between Nadia and Lu would never have occurred.

Hated: Christian's Accident

In the first season of Elite, Christian was a fan-favorite character. He provided some much-needed comic relief to a generally dark show. At the end of the first season, Christian decided he wanted to come forward about Marina's murder.

Before he had the chance, Carla's father arranged for him to have an accident, leaving him paralyzed. Teo then paid for Christian's care out of the country. It seemed as though there may be a chance for this character to heal and return, but Christian was never seen again, leaving many disappointed.

Loved: Polo's Suicide

While it feels a bit wrong to say that fans loved a suicide attempt, this moment was a huge turning point for Polo. Polo had a hard time coping with what he had done after murdering Marina. He had also lost all of his friends and became very isolated and lonely.

Polo's suicide attempt began his redemption arc and made fans sympathetic to his struggle. It became very clear that even though Polo hadn't faced any legal repercussions, he was suffering for his actions.

Hated: Cayetana's Lies

Cayetana was problematic right from the start. This character decided to deceive everyone by pretending to be a spoiled rich brat. In actuality, she was poor and worked as a cleaner with her mother.

Cayetana didn't seem to think there was anything wrong with her actions and even threw a fundraiser under the guise of a fake charity to raise money for herself. Cayetana's general attitude and her treatment of her mother made her hated. She would have been a far more interesting character if she had been honest from the start.

Loved: Sammy Faked His Death

Even though fans were sympathetic to Polo's struggles, they believed that he deserved to be jailed for his crime. Polo's arrest was the only way to clear Nano's name.

In season 2, it seemed like Samuel had been murdered. It was later revealed that this was a ploy developed by Guzmán and Samuel to trick Carla into confessing to her role in Marina's murder. Guzmán and Samuel had spent much of the show on opposite sides, so watching them come together was exciting.

Hated: Malick-Nadia-Omar Love Triangle

There were many problems in Guzmán and Nadia's relationship. When Malick was introduced, it seemed like Nadia had finally found someone who could treat her properly and make her parents happy. The two had a connection, and while it wasn't love at first sight, they seemed compatible and their relationship was growing.

But Malick went behind Nadia's back and hooked up with her brother, Omar. This was a horrifying betrayal. Nadia had always been ive of Omar and seeing him treat her this way was deplorable. Omar was also cheating on Ander when he hooked up with Malick, destroying one of the fan-favorite relationships. This was particularly cruel as Ander was already feeling down and battling cancer. This whole plotline was unnecessary and did nothing but hurt the story and strain some beautiful relationships.

Loved: Fingerprints On The Bottle

Elite Lu

When fans discovered Lu had murdered Polo, they were shocked. But what was even more surprising was how the group of students came together to protect Lu and help her cover up Polo's murder.

Lu had been humbled in season 3 and as a result, she had formed meaningful relationships with almost every character on the show. Watching them rally together to her at her lowest moment was extremely moving.

Hated: Carla's Money Troubles

Carla had always been a forceful character. Fans loved watching her manipulate others and command situations. While her family had always seemed to be one of the richest in the shows, it was revealed in season 3 that her family was broke and their business was failing.

When a classmate named Yeray expressed interest in Carla, Teo forced Carla to pursue a relationship with him, basically pimping his daughter out to save the family business. This led Carla down a troubling path and fans hated seeing her lose her fire.

Loved: Polo Killed Marina

Marina had wronged many people and the person most harmed by her actions was Carla. When Carla abandoned Polo, he became distraught and desperate to win her back. It was clear that Polo was in a fragile state of mind and was having difficulty coping with the loss of his relationship.

Carla tried to manipulate Christian into trying to obtain the watch stolen from her family but was unsuccessful. Polo approached Marina trying to convince her to give back the watch but Marina began to hurtle insults at him. This prompted Polo to murder her. This explosion made sense given Polo's fragile state of mind and Marina's smug attitude. It also highlighted the difference between Polo's relationship with Carla and Christian's relationship with her.
