The third season of Netflix’s Jessica Jones unexpectedly became its last when Disney announced its own streaming service with its own Marvel shows and canceled all of Netflix’s Marvel shows in one fell swoop.

Now that the rights to all the Netflix characters have has become a fan-favorite icon, and there are a few different ways that she could be reintegrated into the MCU.

Ritter Should Return: She Effortlessly Carried The Show

Marvel’s actors need a certain movie star quality to carry their superhero stories. After stealing a bunch of scenes in a ing capacity in Breaking Bad’s second season, Ritter has proven herself to be a captivating, Bryan Cranston-level lead in the three seasons of Jessica Jones.

Whereas Finn Jones didn’t make too much of an impact in Iron Fist and the entire cast of Inhumans was forgettable, Ritter effortlessly carried Jessica Jones on her shoulders.

How It Could Happen: Jessica Jones Season 4 On Disney+

The quickest and easiest way to get Krysten Ritter’s Jessica Jones back in the MCU would be the un-cancel her Netflix series and continue its run on Disney+. Just bring back the same cast and crew to make a fourth season (and hopefully more seasons after that) to follow up Jessica’s story from the season 3 finale.

The show’s profanity and graphic violence might not be at home on the Mouse House’s streaming service, but Disney+ does seem to be opening up to more adult content with the introduction of the “Star” section.

Ritter Should Return: She Was Perfectly Cast

Krysten Ritter Jessica Jones Season 3 Netflix

Just like Charlie Cox as Daredevil and Jon Bernthal as the Punisher, Krysten Ritter couldn’t have been more perfectly cast as Jessica Jones. She nailed every facet of this character, from the dry delivery of her sarcastic quips to the more cerebral elements like her underlying traumas.

It would be a great shame if Ritter never gets to play Jessica again because she’s one of Marvel’s most complex characters and Marvel couldn’t have found a more perfect actor to bring her to life.

How It Could Happen: A Team-Up With Carol Danvers

Captain Marvel arrives on the battlefield in Avengers Endgame

In the comics, Jessica Jones and Carol Danvers are long-time friends. Carol is the first Avenger to become acquainted with Jessica, and the two have gone on a few spectacular adventures together.

The MCU is already introducing a new sidekick for Carol Danvers in the form of Kamala Khan, and WandaVision just gave superpowers to her previous ward Monica Rambeau. But Krysten Ritter could make a great sardonic foil for Brie Larson.

Ritter Should Return: Her Dry Comic Wit Is Perfect For The Wider MCU

Shooting Jessica Jones Krysten Ritter

The MCU is marked by its use of “bathos,” or humor that undermines dramatic moments. Every character in Marvel’s movies always has the perfect quip for a given situation.

This would make Jessica Jones a natural fit for the franchise’s larger universe. Krysten Ritter’s dry comic wit is perfectly suited to the tone of the MCU’s movies.

How It Could Happen: A-Force

The female heroes assemble in Avengers Endgame

Ever since the MCU’s female heroes all teamed up to help Captain Marvel get the Iron Gauntlet across the battlefield in Avengers: Endgame, there have been rumors of an A-Force movie.

If such a movie ever gets made, in addition to teaming up all the beloved heroines from the movies (Captain Marvel, Nebula, the Wasp, Shuri, etc.), it should bring in Jessica Jones.

Ritter Should Return: Her Series Explored Serious Themes

Krysten Ritter and David Tennant in Jessica Jones Season 2

While Marvel’s stories are a lot of fun, not many of them deal with serious subject matter. Thor: Ragnarok and Black Panther are rare examples of MCU entries that use their escapist fantasies to dig into real-world social issues.

Arguably, Jessica Jones is currently the MCU’s most socially conscious work. The show covered such difficult themes as sexual assault and PTSD, and handled them well.

How It Could Happen: Avengers 5

All the MCU heroes line up to battle Thanos in Avengers: Endgame.

There were conversations about including the Netflix Marvel heroes in the final battle of Avengers: Endgame, but they were ultimately kept out of it so the sequence wouldn’t be overstuffed (there were already dozens of characters to keep track of).

Now that the Avengers’ roster has gotten a little smaller following Thanos’ costly defeat, there might be room for Jessica Jones and co. in Avengers 5, whenever it gets made.

Ritter Should Return: She Has Unresolved Story Arcs

Since Jessica Jones was unexpectedly cut short in its third season, the ending of the series wasn’t planned by the writers as the definitive conclusion to the story. While the season 3 finale was a satisfying enough ending, it left the series with a few unresolved story arcs.

From Jessica’s on-and-off romance with Luke Cage to the lasting traumas created by Kilgrave, there are a few Jessica Jones storylines that still have yet to be resolved.

How It Could Happen: A Solo Movie

Krysten Ritter on Jessica Jones

There might not be enough demand or story material for Jessica Jones to have an entire trilogy like the MCU’s other solo franchises — the three seasons of her show sort of acted like a trilogy anyway — but she could be the focus of one dedicated solo movie.

A standalone movie could wrap up Jessica’s unresolved storylines from the TV show and act as a sort of big, cinematic series finale.
