This weekend, coronavirus pandemic, streaming services will continue to see a bigger flow of subscribers and activity – luckily, Netflix still has a lot of content ready to arrive every week.
Last weekend welcomed the drama movie Spotlight, the comedy Banana Split, and season 10 of Jurassic Park movies, and Mad Max (1979).
As for original content, the platform will add a British thriller TV series, a rom-com, the second season of a superhero TV series based on a comic book series, and a documentary. Here are the best movies and TV shows coming to Netflix this weekend - July 31.
Get Even
Get Even is a British teen thriller series based on the book Don’t Get Mad by Gretchen McNeil. It focuses on a group of four friends – Kitty Wei, Bree Deringer, Margot Rivers, and Olivia Hayes – who form a group named DGM (Don’t Get Mad) to expose the bullies at their school. When one of their targets is killed by an unknown attacker and left with a note saying “DGM”, the girls realize there’s someone out there going after them and looking to frame them for the murder. Get Even debuted on BBC iPlayer in February, and is now ready for the rest of the world to watch it on Netflix this weekend.
Seriously Single
Seriously Single is a Netflix romantic comedy directed by Rethabile Ramaphakela and Katleho Ramaphakela. It follows two best friends – Dineo (Fulu Mugovhani) and Noni (Tumi Morake) – with polar opposite views of men, sex, and love. Together they will navigate the complicated singles scene, which includes a couple of encounters with ex-partners that realized their mistakes a bit too late.
The Umbrella Academy - season 2
The Hargreeves are back in The Umbrella Academy season 2 on Netflix this weekend. After escaping the end of the world thanks to Five’s time-travel abilities, the Hargreeves will land in Dallas, Texas, but not together, as they will land in different points in time between 1960 and 1963. In addition to that, they brought the apocalypse with them and will have to reunite so they can stop the end of the world for good this time. In the meantime, they will come across with new characters, of which not all have good intentions.

Netflix continues expanding its catalogue of documentaries, and its newest addition is Connected: The Hidden Science of Everything. In this documentary series, science reporter and host Latif Nasser travels around the world to investigate the surprising ways that people are linked to one another – from bodily functions to data and songs – as well as to the universe.
