Netflix started out as a mail-order DVD service in the 1990s and has grown into a popular streaming service, with its own original programming and original movies. It also has co-production deals with many other studios, and, in North America, it can distribute programming from other countries whose programs might not be available in the US and/or Canada.

Rotten Tomatoes is a popular site where reviewers can submit reviews for movies and television programs, and fans can also submit their own ratings. Though a number of Netflix's most popular shows and movies sit just shy of 100% – like The OA, Stranger Things, Santa Clarita Diet, Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, and many others – there are still numerous Netflix shows and movies that do sit at 100%, even if they don't have a lot of reviews. While a show or movie can have 100% on Rotten Tomatoes with only one review, another can have 99% with over a dozen reviews. There are also shows and movies that end up having a lot of negative reviews and can have a higher audience score, or have negative reviews across the board.

Rotten Tomatoes has become a popular site for people to get a general consensus about how a movie or show has fared over a multitude of sources. Opinions can vary greatly, but generally speaking, it's fairly reliable in of getting an overall idea about some of the things that can be expected from whatever it is you are interested in watching. With this list, we're taking a look at some of the Netflix originals, and programs that have been picked up by the steaming service, that have at least 100% on RT, as well as those that have some of the lowest scores. However, it's important to keep in mind that scores on Rotten Tomatoes can change over time as new reviews and ratings are placed.

With that said, here are the 12 Netflix Originals With 100% On Rotten Tomatoes (And 8 Worst).

RIVER (100%)

Created by Abi Morgan and starring Stellan Skarsgård, Nicola Walker, and Adeel Akhtar, River is a show from the UK that aired on Netflix and BBC One. It focuses on John River (Stellan Skarsgård), a detective who sees deceased people -- a lot. However, whether they're really ghosts, or “manifests” as he calls them, is at times a matter of interpretation. While they occasionally have some otherworldly traits, the series seems to define them as mental manifestations.

Throughout the series, John tries to find out who ended the life of his partner. It's eventually revealed (though it's apparent from the beginning) that he was in love with her. The show received great reviews and currently has a 100% on Rotten Tomatoes, with a 95% audience score.

EXTINCTION (40%)

Extinction was directed by Ben Young, written by Spencer Cohen, Brad Kane, and Eric Heisserer, and stars Michael Pena, Lizzy Caplan, and Mike Colter. Extinction starts out as an alien invasion movie that takes a turn when it's revealed that things aren't exactly as they seem.

When an engineer has recurring nightmares about an invasion, his attempts to warn others are ignored. Then the invasion happens, almost exactly as it did in his dreams – but some important details are vastly different. As things progress, it turns out that the situation is more complicated than initially suspected. Despite its interesting premise and execution, it had a 25% rating on Rotten Tomatoes (now 40%), and has an audience score of 48%.

CASTLEVANIA (100%)

Based on video games of the same name, Castlevania is an anime series written by Warren Ellis and starring Richard Armitage (Trevor Belmont) and Graham McTavish (Dracula). In the first season, Dracula's human wife's life is ended by the people who she tried to help. After her demise, Dracula attacks the town, and the second season focuses on his continued aim to destroy the majority of humans. It also focuses on his half human, half vampire son, who still vows to stop him at any cost.

The anime has received stellar reviews and is popular with audiences. While the first season did receive less than a 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes, the second season has thus far remained at 100%, with an 89% audience score.

BETWEEN (22%)

Created by Michael McGowan and starring Jennette McCurdy, Jesse Carere, and Jim Watson, Between is a Netflix series about a town where all of the people over 22 away, and the remaining population is unable to leave the town due to the location being quarantined. It focuses on the survival of the people who are left  behind and trying to figure out exactly what happened.

Overall, the reviews and audience scores on Rotten Tomatoes aren't favorable, though the audience score is higher. The show has a 22% Rotten Tomatoes rating and a 66% overall audience score. The show has had two seasons so far, and while it appears to be canceled, its official status is uncertain.

CHEWING GUM (100%)

Written, directed, and starring Michaela Coel, Chewing Gum amassed fan and critical acclaim before its last season. Coel has also gone on to receive accolades for her performance in another popular Netflix show, Black Mirror. She was in “Nosedive” and had a larger role in “USS Callister”. Both episodes garnered great reviews and were highlighted as some of the best episodes of Black Mirror to date.

Chewing Gum is a comedic show about the life of Tracey Gordon and her quest to find love and sleep with someone for the first time. She navigates living in London, work life, and dating. A third season is also on its way, but this time more writers will be helping Coel out. It has a Rotten Tomatoes rating of 100% and an audience score of 95%.

GAME OVER, MAN! (20%)

Directed by Kyle Newacheck, written Anders Holm, and starring Adam Devine, Anders Holm, and Blake Anderson, Game Over, Man! is a comedy about three friends and their get-rich-quick ideas. However, while the “leader” of the group comes up with a lot of ideas, he doesn't realize that his friends don't like the execution of his plans. In order to avoid dealing with this, they decide to hide a project.

After a gang of criminals take over the hotel they work in, they have to band together to save themselves and the guests. Surprisingly, while many thought the movie was funny, it wasn't well-received on Rotten Tomatoes. It currently has a 20% rating, with a 48% audience score.

AGGRETSUKO (100%)

Aggretsuko is anime written and directed by Rarecho, and starring Kaolip, Komegumi Koiwasaki, and Maki Tsuruta. The storyline focuses on Retsuko, a little red panda who likes to sing metal music at a karaoke t in order to relax after work. It's a funny show that explores the ins and outs of office spaces, with various cartoon animals standing in for people.

It focuses on heavy work loads, navigating the work environment, money woes, and making friends. It also delves into other subjects like being yourself, yoga, and meditation. Based on a character created for a mascot company, it has received rave reviews and is currently at 100% on Rotten Tomatoes, with an audience score of 94%. There's also a holiday special coming up, and the new season is slated to begin in 2019.

ELITE (100%)

Created by Dario Madrona and Carlos Montero and starring Maria Pedraza, Itzan Escamilla, and Miguel Bernardeau, Elite is a show from Spain about teenagers who attend an expensive prep school. There are the students who are popular and mean, and those who transfer to the school are often considered outsiders. Hostile competition at the school is emphasized, with students being openly pressured to outperform each other.

Soon, things take a turn when an incident at a party leads to an investigation. The show doesn't have many reviews, but the reviews it does have praise the series. It has been compared to 13 Reasons Why, another popular teen drama on Netflix. It currently has a 100% on Rotten Tomatoes, with an audience score of 84%.

TAU (20%)

Tau was directed by Federico D'Alessandro, written by Noga Landau, stars Mika Monroes, Ed Skrein, and Gary Oldman. Tau is a movie about a woman who is held captive by a psychotic inventor. While captive, she ends up forming a friendship with his AI smarthouse. She's there as part of the inventor's experiment to improve AI.

Once you get past some of the movie's clichés, especially at the beginning of the movie, it becomes an interesting tech story about identity, AI consciousness, and memory. It's a topic, by this point, that has been explored a lot, and while Tau's RT score suggests otherwise, it does have a number of interesting moments. Tau currently has a Rotten Tomatoes rating of 20%, with an audience score of 49%.

FINAL FANTASY XIV: DAD OF LIGHT (100%)

Final Fantasy XIV: Dad of Light was directed by Teruo Noguchi and Kiyoshi Yamamoto, written by Kota Fukihara and Mighty, and stars Yudai Chiba, Ren Osugi, and Mako Ishino, Final Fantasy XIV: Dad of Light is based on a series of blog posts and is a story about a father and son who bond after the dad quits his job. They've been estranged, and the son decides to reconnect with his father by playing a video game series that was important to them when he was younger. It features a mix of live action and animation.

The movie doesn't have a lot of reviews, but the ones it has are mostly good. It has a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, with an audience score of 55%.
