Tiny Pretty Things is the newest Netflix show to catch viewers' attention. After a single season, the series has left fans wanting and needing more dance and more drama. Netflix—or any other network, for that matter—has not yet picked up a second season as of yet, so fans find themselves needing to binge on something else in the meantime. Thankfully, there is no shortage of shows highlighting young people, cutthroat tendencies, undoubtable talent, mystery, and drama.
Until fans of Tiny Pretty Things get their second season, these ten hit television shows will certainly keep them glued to their screens. If you loved watching savage ballerinas duke it out to the death (literally), then these series' are tailor-made for you.
Gossip Girl
Gossip Girl is a cult classic, and you will be hard-pressed to find many young adult women who haven't tuned into the series. It parallels Tiny Pretty Things in many ways. Beautiful young people who tend to go rouge and engage in wild behavior? Check. Elite institutions where the goals are nearly unattainable, and the students are downright savage? Check. Storylines that include salacious and destructive behavior by people who can not even vote yet? Yep. Both of these shows have all of that, too.
Pretty Little Liars
Tiny Pretty Things was inspired by novels written by Sona Charaipotra and Dhonielle Clayton. The authors have itted that another popular television series, Pretty Little Liars centers around four young women and a missing friend. When the missing friend turns up dead, things take a very dark turn, sending the main characters into a wild spiral. It's entertaining, shocking, and full of beautiful humans, much like Tiny Pretty Things.
Spinning
Unfortunately, spinning was canceled after a single season, but that single-season will still resonate with fans of Tiny Pretty Things. The series stars a feisty figure skater with a world full of potential and a world of emotional baggage.
Life at the skating rink is definitely not all roses and sunshine, and the storylines showcase complicated relationships, intense romantic moments, and deep dark personal secrets, along with fantastic figure skating moves.
Baby
Baby currently has three available seasons on Netflix. It centers around a promising student named Chiara. By day, she attends a prestigious private high school, and by night she enjoys a completely different life. Baby's nightlife activities are definitely provocative and startling, and, like Tiny Pretty Things, it contains eye-opening plots and story arcs. Nothing here is for the faint of heart.
Glee
Glee is about a group of high schoolers who don't really fit into the school society norms. Despite their oddities, they are a talented wonderous group of teens who fight, bond, form relationships, and perform their hearts out. Both the casts of Glee and Tiny Pretty Things are doubly talented.
They can clearly act, but the dancing—and, in Glee's case, singing—is also part of their bag of tricks. Show creators wanted to hire cast who could pull their weight in all areas so body doubles wouldn't be needed.
Dance Academy
ABC's Dance Academy takes a group of young, rising dance stars and puts them at Sydney Australia's National Academy of Dance. Here, they leave every move and emotion right there on the dance floor as they battle it out for the top stop. At the National Academy of Dance, winning is everything, and feelings and friendships always come second for this group of ambitious performers.
Trinkets
Netflix carries two seasons of Trinkets, which will satisfy show cravings for Tiny Pretty Things fans. The series follows a group of three teens who tend to pick items off of shelves without paying.
Their kleptomania is what binds them and gives them common ground, but, as far as their lives and secrets go, they could not be different. The show highlights dark material, like Tiny Pretty Things, and does not sugarcoat the seedy side of the teenage years.
Pose
Pose revolves around a group of New Yorkers living in the performing underbelly of the entertainment world. There are elements of the cutthroat dance world in Pose, as well as complex relationships among friends, lovers, and enemies. Pose plays on the dark world of performing and the lengths performers will go to in order to be the very best at what they do. For these characters, dance is life.
Euphoria
HBO's Euphoria is dark and gritty and almost makes Tiny Pretty Things look like child's play, which is hard to do, considering the whole murder premise and hanky panky happening behind closed doors.
Both shows take viewers on a wild ride into the lives of teens who are struggling with some really series stuff. Not all childhoods are picture-perfect, and Euphoria goes to show just how distressing the teenage years can be for some.
Flesh And Bone
Flesh and Bone holds nothing back when it comes to the raw, edgy, and often unhealthy world of dance—in particular, ballet. The star ballerina, Claire, is perfection to the eye, but, on the inside, she is full of turmoil, conflict, and sheer emotional upheaval. Flesh and Bone shows fans just how toxic the uppermost elite circles of dance are. It makes you wonder why anyone would aspire to be a part of the ballet circuit.
