One of the best things to come out of 2020 is first-generation Indian-American high school sophomore, who is trying to recover from an extremely traumatic year. Over the course of the series, Devi must mourn her father's death while also trying to navigate life in high school as she tries to rebrand her image.

A Mindy Kaling Cameo

Mindy Kaling

Mindy Kaling is not only an amazing writer and producer but she's also an amazing actress. She's proven both of these facts with her work on The Mindy ProjectSince she's the co-creator of Never Have I Ever and the series is partially based on her real life, fans are hoping that season 2 will bring a Kaling cameo.

Fans would love to see Kaling serve as a new neighbor or perhaps a new therapist for Nalini. She could also appear as Kamala's sister.

Character Point-Of-View Episodes

While the majority of Never Have I Ever's first season revolved around Devi and her struggles, the series did give Ben his own standalone episode. Not only did this episode give us some insight into Ben's family life it was also narrated by Andy Samberg.

The episode was a nice change of pace for the series and fans hope that season 2 will give more of the characters their own shot at telling their story. It would also mean that more celebrity guests could lend their voice to the series which is exciting.

Devi and Nalini Working On Their Relationship

Devi and Nalini with the urn of Mohan's ashes on the beach in Never Have I Ever

Devi and her mother Nalini have an extremely tumultuous relationship. Devi harbors resentment towards her mother after overhearing Nalini tell her late father that she no longer wished to parent Devi. Nalini on the other hand struggles to understand and connect with her daughter who is determined to have a truly American high school experience. By the end of the first season, these two began to take steps to mend their relationship.

Fans are hopeful that Devi and Nalini continue to work on their relationship and perhaps, even attend therapy together.

Devi Making A Choice

While Devi was dealing with the death of her father and her deteriorating friendship with her friends, she also finds herself caught in the middle of a love triangle. By the end of the series, Devi manages to grab the attention of both Paxton, the it-boy at school, and Ben, her sworn enemy. Not only does she have their attention, but she also gets to kiss both of them.

It's the modern-day Team Edward/Team Jacob debate and fans are eager to see if Devi will pick Paxton, Ben, or if she'll turn them both down to focus on herself instead.

Mohan Flashbacks

One of the strongest elements of Never Have I Ever is its ability to utilize flashbacks to show what life was like for Devi before her father Mohan's unexpected death. Not only do the flashbacks give viewers an insight into just how close Devi and her father were, but they also serve to showcase just how different Devi's life is now.

The Mohan flashbacks are not only entertaining but they also gave us some amazing scenes like the one where Mohan buys a motorcycle. Fans certainly hope Mohan continues to make appearances and that we get to learn more about his relationships.

Fabiola Being Proud Of Her Sexuality

While Devi was having a crisis of her own, one of her best friends was also dealing with some pretty heavy stuff. Over the course of the season, fans watched as Fabiola came to with her sexuality and opened up to her friends and family about it.

While Fabiola was met with acceptance from everyone around her, it's clear that she still has some work to do within herself to be able to be proud of who she is. Fans hope she gets the chance to fully embrace her sexuality and that they get to see more of her and Eve.

Devi Being A Better Friend

Three people hugging side to side

Devi may have been in the middle of her own teenage angst nightmare, but that doesn't mean she should have pushed away all of her friends. In fact, one of Devi's biggest issues is her need for everything to revolve around her.

The season did end with Devi realizing that she's been a shitty friend, though which is definitely a step in the right direction. Fans certainly hope that Devi keeps up her promise that we get to see this trio of friends finally start to have fun together again.

Kamala Working Through Her Romantic Feelings

At the end of season one, Kamala has ended her secret relationship with her American boyfriend, Steve, in order to better get to know Prashant, the man her family has arranged her to marry. Even though she makes a decision, it's clear that she is still extremely conflicted about her choice.

At the end of the day fans just want to see Kamala happy, but they also don't want to say goodbye to Steve or Prashant. Perhaps, the three of them will decide to be friends instead of romantic partners. Or maybe they'll enter an open relationship.

Ben Making Better Friends

Ben may be rich and may pretend he has everything he wants in the world but viewers quickly learn that Ben is terribly alone most of the time. His parents are largely absent, his girlfriend only uses him for his wealth, and he really doesn't have any friends until he and Devi start hanging out.

Ben might be cocky and problematic at times but that doesn't mean he should suffer alone. Fans hope that Ben ditches his girlfriend and starts bettering himself by surrounding himself with people who care about him.

Eleanor Acting In A School Play

While Eleanor does get her own arc this season revolving around her estranged mother coming back into the picture, season one really didn't let fans get to know Eleanor as much as they had hoped for. The one thing fans do know is that she aspires to be an actress.

During the first season, we get to see Eleanor audition for the lead role in a school play. Fans hope for season two is that they get to see Eleanor take the stage and show off her insane drama skills.
