Warning! Spoilers ahead for Flashpoint Beyond #4While DC Comics just introduced the first Thomas Wayne's Batman while the alternate Dark Knight attempts to end this reality to restore the one where his son Bruce lives, the newest issue of Flashpoint Beyond sees young Dexter hatching his own plan. Having lost nearly his entire family, the new Robin may be next in line to lose his life (and Batman may be too late to save him).

In previous issues of Flashpoint Beyond from Geoff Johns, Tim Sheridan, Jeremy Adams, Xermánico, and Mikel Janín, Thomas Wayne was horrified to find himself back in the Flashpoint reality. Seeing as how this was the timeline where his son died and wife went insane in her grief (becoming this reality's Joker), Thomas has been determined to bring back the original DC timeline which he believes has been lost. As such, Batman has ignored several things such as an impending Kryptonian invasion, the war between Aquaman and Wonder Woman, as well as the son of DA Harvey Dent whom he took in after Harvey died during an attack to prevent Batman from giving powers to this timeline's Barry Allen.

Now, the new Flashpoint Beyond #4 sees Thomas Wayne investigating the death of the Reverse-Flash, the same villain who turned Thomas' Batman into a living paradox, allowing him to escape Flashpoint the first time it was destroyed. Meanwhile, Dexter discovers the Batcave and arms himself for a mission all his own, becoming the closest thing Flashpoint has to a Robin. Having lost his sister who died when they were both kidnaped by Martha's Joker and now losing his father, there's only one family member Dexter has left: his mother Gilda. Following the death of Dexter's sister, Gilda has been held in Arkham Asylum and has recently cut the side of her face, becoming Flashpoint's grief-filled version of Two-Face. While Dexter does break into Arkham and finds his mother, he discovers she's not alone when her cell wall opens up to reveal that Martha's Joker is still alive.

Flashpoint Robin Faces Two-Face and Joker

Having put all the clock pieces together that Thomas found inside Reverse-Flash's body, Thomas realizes too late that they belonged to the Wayne Family's own grandfather clock, seemingly confirming that Martha's Joker is the Reverse-Flash's killer and didn't die in her suicide attempt as seen in the original Flashpoint event. Furthermore, Thomas' decision to ignore Dexter may now cost the self-made Robin his life. It's not a stretch to imagine that Martha's Joker may want to finish the job after getting Dexter's sister killed. Likewise, there's no telling what Gilda will do now that she's become Two-Face.

While he's just been introduced in this new series, Flashpoint's new Robin is already in grave danger. Jason Todd's Robin was killed by the Joker after being betrayed by his mother, and Dexter may meet a similar or even more tragic fate in this darker timeline. Here's hoping Thomas Wayne's Batman will be able to save his new Robin in the issues to come. Flashpoint Beyond #4 is on sale now.
