New Girl has been touted as a popular, must-see show for anyone who loves to laugh. For seven successful seasons, audiences got to see quirky Jess make it through her early adulthood with her three, then eventually four, roommates, who all happen to be guys.
The best part about New Girl is that, no matter what happened between the roommates, they all came back together in the end. But that’s not without mentioning some of the crazy things the guys did to each other. Here are the ten worst things the guys did to each other throughout New Girl.
Nick Rejecting Schmidt’s Gifts
Schmidt has always been known to be the soft and loving type, but Nick treats him horribly when he keeps rejecting Schmidt's friendship gifts in the episode “Models.” Throughout the whole episode, Schmidt doesn’t know why Nick simply rejects his friendship by his way of gifts. Nick tries to make it up to him by giving his own gifts to Schmidt, but they all end up being insincere. They eventually make up in the end, but it's hard to believe how hard it was for Nick to accept Schmidt’s kindness!
Nick Stranding Everyone in the Desert
In the finale of Winston, and Schmidt to the desert rather than going to the apartment. Even though Nick was scared to unpack all his stuff at the new place, it still was wrong of him to make a giant detour and get his best friends stranded in the desert. Not to mention throwing his keys out into the landscape so Winston and Schmidt won’t make him drive back!
Tinfinity
We all know Schmidt is somewhat of an event planner, perfectionist, and go-getter all wrapped into one, so, when Nick decides to be a part of the planning for their ten year anniversary in “Tinfinity," Schmidt hesitates because Nick has a habit of doing the bare minimum.
Even though Nick may do the bare minimum all the time, it’s not fair for Schmidt to accept that whatever Nick will do it will suck. It’s better to have faith in friends rather than expect the worst of them.
Forgetting Winston’s Birthday
Nothing’s worse than having a birthday be forgotten, but that’s exactly what happened to Winston in “Winston’s Birthday.” The whole gang forgot his birthday because of all the crazy things happening in the guy's lives: Nick dealing with Jess’s dad, Jess making Winston run her errands, Schmidt dealing with his new girlfriend and work.
The worst part of this episode is that, when Jess asked Winston to run her errands, he thought it was a surprise party waiting for him. This one is definitely hard to watch.
Schmidt Moves Out
There’s nothing worse than when a friend moves out because of differences or a fight or giant misunderstanding. So, when Schmidt decides to move out in “Keaton” and go to the loft at the end of the hall, it leaves a Schmidt-sized hole in the gang’s hearts.
To be fair, the gang just wanted to cheer him up after his Cece-Elizabeth breakup, but it's hard when cheering up turns to betrayal when Schmidt finds out Nick was pretending to be his childhood pen pal, Michael Keaton.
Coach Comes Back
In season one, audiences briefly saw Coach before he left the show. Well, in season three episode seven, Coach comes back, but what starts as a friendly reunification turns into an ugly episode between the guys. Coach has always just been a little too honest and his jokes usually go too far, but, when he decides to force them all to a strip club and do things they don’t really want to do, it becomes a lot for the guys. It's also hard when they can’t say no to Coach, and that’s not helpful for any friendship when friends can’t say no to other friends.
Coach Moves Back Out
Just as he came back, Coach meets someone new and decides to move out once again. While we all came to love Coach, sometimes his methods of leaving can be harsh and it affects the guys of the group.
Coach isn’t too sentimental, so, when he decides to leave behind all the momentums the guys gave him, he ends up hurting everyone’s feelings. Fortunately, Coach comes around and decides to move and take all the momentums with him!
“Thanksgiving III”
The episode “Thanksgiving III” shows Nick and his desperate way to prove his manhood by deciding to go camping on Thanksgiving. But, as Nick tries to bring the gang together during a camping trip, everyone’s own personal issues get in the way.
Winston never wanted to go, Schmidt and Coach end up battling against each other over Cece, and Nick just wants to hunt like all the past providers, but he ends up arguing with the rest of the guys after they tease him for not bringing food. Overall, this was a messy episode.
Nick Vs. Schmidt
In season two episode fifteen titled “Cooler,” a lot of rifts come in between the guys. Nick and Schmidt fight over winning the same girl, and the guys accuse Nick of being Jess’s boyfriend without actually being her boyfriend. Insults and fighting words are exchanged all throughout this episode, and all the guys don’t feel great by the end of it. The best part of this episode, though, is seeing Nick wear a women’s trench coat.
The Parking Spot Debacle
Last but not least is season two episode seventeen’s “Parking Spot” where all the guys fight over a newly-found parking spot. In this episode, we see everyone argue about why they deserve the spot and even Jess tries to flirt with Nick to get it. While it's fun to see them fight over it, fighting in a show can only go so far for entertaining viewers.
