Gamma radiation turned Bruce Banner into the Hulk, but it's also made monsters out of a powerful array of aliens, robots and animals.
Marvel's New Hulk Debuts by Beating Up the Gods
Miles Morales' Therapist Just Became Marvel's Newest Superhero
In recent comics, Miles Morales has been chosen as the champion of the trickster god Anansi, who is hungry for stories. As a result, Miles has found himself in conflict with the former Dark Avenger Ares and his champion War-Cry. The 'God War' arc will see various gods take sides in the conflict, as - despite his powerful new Vibranium suit - Miles Morales finds himself way in over his head. Thankfully, Miles does have the heroic gods Hercules and Thor in his corner, and now he also has his own Hulk.
Keisha Kwan debuted way back in 2023, helping Miles to overcome the issues that had robbed him of his Spider-Sense. A self-confessed "gym rat," Dr. Kwan is a former student of Doc Samson - the superhero psychiatrist who gained powers after stealing Bruce Banner's gamma energy. Now, it seems Samson is encouraging his protégé to follow him into the superhero life. Creator Cody Ziglar says:
Dr. Keisha Kwan has been a slow burn in our book for almost two whole years, and I'm SO excited for folks to finally see her Powerlift form in action! Federico did an amazing job deg her - we love gamma/Hulk characters almost as much as we love the work of Akira Toriyama; Powerlift is our homage to both! Marco has drawn some incredible scenes with her that I think folks are gonna love.
In Marvel lore, gamma powers unleash the buried aspects of a person's personality, turning them into a monstrous 'Hulk,' generally with incredible strength. It's clear Powerlift is no exception, as the preview of her first appearance sees her unleash a power bomb on a literal Greek God. Hulk has a dark history with the Greek pantheon, having received his most devastating beatdown of all time at the hands of Zeus. Now, the Hulk family's latest member seems to be paying back the pantheon with a helping of gamma violence, as Powerlift makes her superpowered debut in Marvel lore, potentially saving Miles Morales from the gods themselves.
