With no new The new Bayonetta will include a 'family-friendly' mode, which is called Naive Angel Mode, that should make the game a bit more accessible to new and returning players.

Seductive and overconfident as always, Bayonetta leaps and spins into a brand new adventure, filled with new enemies and friends alike. Originally announced back in 2017, from what can be seen from the new trailer, Bayonetta 3 is going to be an exciting experience. Over-the-top action and blatant innuendo return in force in addition to colorful attacks and bold personalities. However, these are not the only things the new game will have to offer.

New Look

Known to be quite the fashion icon, Bayonetta has had several looks over the course of her original two games. For her first, she had a skintight bodysuit and a long, high ponytail. Her second had her in a pixie cut and something of a cloak in addition to the bodysuit. The third game changed her look once again; this time she's sporting long, braided pigtails that go right to her feet, tights, and a top that frays in several places at the bottom. This is possibly the first official two-piece outfit Bayonetta has worn.

Not only that, her new outfit is adorned with several gold pieces, more so than her original two. She still has a moon pendant resting comfortably on her chest, though said chest is once again covered. The gun heels are still present, with gold décor on the toebox, topline, and top piece of the heel. Her pigtails even have what look like gold daggers hanging from the ends. Whether the gold accessories have any significance or are just for fashion remains to be seen.

New Foes

The Homunculi taking shape in Bayonetta 3.

A new game means new foes, and players haven't seen anything like these before. In the trailer, Rodin states that these new creatures aren't from Paradiso or Inferno, which means that they're from the World of Chaos, AKA the human world. It's later revealed that these sea-green and white creatures are Homunculi, an alchemist-created artificial human. Some do look humanoid, while others look like giant monsters.

Where exactly these Homunculi came from and how many there are is yet to be determined, but they are definitely not friendly. The bigger Homunculi look like they'll be tough to handle. And just what their powers are remains to be seen. They seem to come out of nowhere in swarms during the trailer, and while Bayonetta can hold her own, she'll still want to consider getting some help.

New Friends

New playable character Viola is a major addition to Bayonetta 3.

Familiar faces are returning to the franchise. These include Rodin, the weapons master; Luka, the charming journalist and escape artist; Enzo, the undertaker and an underground informant; and Jeanne, another witch and Bayonetta's oldest friend and possible love interest. New characters will be ing the Bayonetta family as well. Not only that, one is even playable, which is quite a positive new fix from Bayonetta 2.

The first new character is Viola, a playable sword fighter who controls a giant demon cat named Cheshire. It's suggested in the trailer that she and Luka might know each other, and there's a parallel between her demon and Bayonetta's nickname for Luka, which was Cheshire. Also, Viola knows about the Homunculi and even points Bayonetta and co. in the direction of their maker. Called Sigurd, this bald man in a pod could possibly be their creator, though Viola thinks he can help.

New Abilities

Bayonetta 3's Demon Masquerade brings a new way to fight.

With Bayonetta's new look comes new powers. An obvious one from the trailer is Demon Masquerade, an ability that transforms her into a giant, voluptuous demon. Equipped with beautiful butterfly wings, this new form allows her to fight with more power and new combos. Another new ability she has is Demon Slave, where she summons a demon and controls them with a dance routine instead of her hair.

Demons she's used in the original games are being brought back for Bayonetta 3. Gomorrah, Devourer of the Devine; Malphas, President of Hell; and Phantasmaraneae, Twister of Flame are all returning to help Bayonetta kick some monster tail. Bayonetta can even be seen riding Phantasmaraneae into battle during the trailer. There's not much indication as to there being other demons beyond those three, but time will tell.

New Expanded Gameplay

Compared to the likes of the Devil May Cry and God of War series, Bayonetta has been known for some pretty epic fights. Bayonetta is a master of quick combo attacks and many others. The new game will keep the same gameplay formula while also adding some new mechanics. A blog post from the game's director, Yusuke Miyata, states that "he aims to make Bayonetta control exactly how the player wants her to, "creating action connected directly to the brain,"" GameSpot noted.

One of Bayonetta's major attacks is her torture attacks. She summons different ancient devices originally used on witches during the Witch Hunts, like the Iron Maiden, to use against her enemies with bloody irony. For the first two games, she could only use one torture attack on one enemy. This third game will give her the ability to inflict multiple torture attacks at once, increasing her battle proficiency.

New Guns

Bayonetta isn't Bayonetta without her trusty hand and heel guns. She has new ones for her new game called Color My World, referencing a Petula Clark song. A deep purple with gold lettering, each gun has an individual name and different bug-shaped charms on them. Rumor has it that her guns names are Oddity, Hero, Rebel, and Heathen, which are David Bowie songs. The bug-shaped charms include a bee, ladybug, beetle, and dragonfly. If the bugs have any significance, it has yet to be revealed.

These new guns also wrap Bayonetta's attacks in demonic purple energy. The energy was red in the first game and blue in the second. Another new feature is that these guns appear to be three-barreled, as opposed to her usual two-barrel. One thing that's remained the same is that her guns were made by Rodin, so players know they're high-quality weapons of mass destruction.

New Locations

Bayonetta 3 Trailer Analysis Theory Everything Learned

Though she's literally been to Hell and back, Bayonetta is traveling to new places to protect the world from evil. When the trailer begins, she encounters the Homunculi as they're attacking Shibuya, a city in Tokyo. Though it might not be an exact replica of the city, there's enough there for players to get the general idea.

Another new location is China, specifically the mountains. Whether they're mountains in general or specific ranges like the Himalayas is unconfirmed, but any battle is destined to be epic. Considering most of these mountain ranges are snow-capped, there might be a chance for a fight to trigger an avalanche.

New Graphics

Bayonetta 3 Demon Masquerade power

There's no doubt that the original two Bayonetta games were spectacular in of graphics. However, at this point in time, both games are showing signs of age, especially the first one. Game graphics have certainly come a long way over the years, and if Bayonetta's third game has the quality of the trailer, it won't disappoint.
