The unlikely Pokémon photography sequel, New Pokémon Snap, has recently brought more content to players, including a host of new Pokémon. The original Pokémon Snap released all the way back in 1999 on the Nintendo 64, and really shows its age when considering in-game photos could be printed at Pokémon Snap kiosks in Blockbuster. 22 years and four Nintendo home consoles later, New Pokémon Snap returned players to the world of wildlife photography. Those who picked up the game on launch will have a reason to return with New Pokémon Snap's 2.0 update, which added three new routes and 20 new Pokémon.

New Pokémon Snap originally included a fairly robust 214 Pokémon to photograph, making the new total 234. These three new routes add to New Pokémon Snap's 11 base courses, with the same time of day variations, allowing players to get a couple different runs through each one. Of the three new routes, only the Secret Side Path requires any work to find beyond selecting it. Getting on the Secret Side Path requires some new shrinking technology that Phil will tell the player about. In order to get the Secret Side Path to appear on the map, players have to take the Florio Park Day route and scan for the entrance, which will be across from some Bidoofs building a dam, and to the left-hand side of the track.

Players should be on the lookout for yet another alternate inside of the Secret Side Path, though, since that's where they'll find New Pokémon Snap's recently added Snorlax. The other new routes, Mightywide River and Barren Badlands will have their day courses available on the map, provided players have progressed far enough in the game to have reached Beluvsylva and Voluca before. Unlocking the nighttime courses will require a higher research level, meaning players will have to go through them a few times in order to see all the new Pokémon.

Every Pokémon Added In New Pokémon Snap's 2.0 Update

Though the Secret Side Path has the most novelty with the new shrinking mechanic, it has the fewest new Pokémon of the three courses added in the 2.0 update. The Secret side path only has the following three:

  • Foongus
  • Shroomish
  • Snorlax

Mightywide River bears the second most new photography subjects with the following:

  • Cliffa
  • Drilbur
  • Feraligatr
  • Gyarados
  • Psyduck
  • Rockruff
  • Tropius
  • Ursaring

Barren Badlands has the most new monsters of New Pokémon Snap's new areas, including a mythic Pokémon:

  • Crustle
  • Diglett
  • Gliscor
  • Koffing
  • Salazzle
  • Scolipede
  • Swalot
  • Tepig
  • Zeraora

Pokémon fans are eagerly awaiting Pokémon Legends: Arceus and the Diamond/Pearl remakes, but New Pokémon Snap is bringing fresh content in the meantime. It took less than four months from release for New Pokémon Snap to get new routes and Pokémon, and this hopefully won't be the last content update to the game.
