A new Saints Row game is currently in the works by developer Volition, as revealed on social media a couple of days ago. The developers of the increasingly wacky open-world crime franchise have currently been at work porting its previous installments to current-gen consoles, and now it seems they are finally looking towards the future.
Previously, Volition had hinted at a Xbox One this May.
When the subject of which studio is working on this Saints Row: The Third remaster, the official Saints Row Twitter page let it slip that a new installment is currently in development Monday. According to them, developer Sperasoft is working on the aforementioned port, while Volition is creating an as-of-yet unnamed fifth installment of the series. You can check out the tweet below:
Having begun life as a somewhat-grounded street-crime story in the vein of Keith David and Rowdy Roddy Piper.
There’s no word yet on the storyline or tone of the new Saints Row game, but it is likely to continue the serial escalation brought on by previous installments…if is at all possible to top a street gang blasting aliens with psychic powers and Dubstep-firing laser guns as Stan Bush’s “The Touch” plays in the background. Nonetheless, it will be interesting to see where the series goes in this new chapter, so fans should stay posted for further developments regarding the 3rd Street Saints’ latest open-world caper.
