Recently, parties from both SNK and Capcom have expressed interest in collaborating on a new a new SNK vs. Capcom game, saying "that's something that I think everybody on all sides, in both parties, are interested in making a reality." Capcom developer Hideaki Itsuno, the director of SNK vs. Capcom 2, also expressed his interest in a past interview with Polygon, saying "It's more just a matter of having an opportunity to so." Notably, promotional posters for the crossover series were released at EVO 2022, as announced by SNK Global, showing more interest in reviving the franchise.

The Likelihood Of A New SNK Vs. Capcom Game

However, although employees of both developers have noted their willingness to collaborate, no official statements have been made on any potential revival of SNK vs. Capcom. Both developers currently have other fighting game projects in development, with SNK having recently announced the revival of another classic fighting game series, Fatal Fury. While Capcom is also occupied with the Street Fighter 6, any news on SNK vs. Capcom would likely have to wait.

While recent developments shows hope for the future of the crossover franchise, a new SNK vs. Capcom title is likely far off. Both developers have a number of projects to occupy their time, with Street Fighter 6 scheduled for a 2023 release and Hideaki Itsuno working on the recently announced Dragon's Dogma 2 on Capcom's side, and SNK developing a new Fatal Fury and updating Samurai Showdown with rollback. But while fans of SNK vs. Capcom may have to wait awhile for a new installment, they can at least know that they are not alone in awaiting the next title in the crossover series.
