The other two projects were Breakaway and Crucible, the former a multiplayer brawler and the latter a free-to-play hero shooter in the vein of delay New World to late September. But those interested in the MMORPG need not worry about potential delays any longer.
New World is now available to purchase in full for PC via Amazon and Steam, with a Standard Edition priced at $39.99. In a press release, VP of Amazon Games Christoph Hartmann proudly divulged that more than one million players have already explored the island of Aeternum during New World's beta testing phases. Hartmann said in part, "...because Aeternum is a living world, created to change and evolve over time, today is only the beginning—we have so much more in store for players."
Players will arrive on Aeternum by way of a shipwreck, stepping foot onto a supernatural island replete with mysteries. And there's much to explore as in the quest to conquer the island, which s can do in whichever way they see fit. Venturing out into the world solo serves as but one option, for example, while taking off in small groups constitutes another. Furthermore, New World's PvP battles will allow factions to vie for control of the land in intense battles.
The release of New World marks a bit step for the beleaguered Amazon Games, one that will undoubtedly play a pivotal role in the division's future. Thus, it should be interesting to see how well it fares on the market, especially in the months ahead.
