Amazon Games warns that cancellation of its Lord of the Rings MMO, having topped Steam's concurrent player count with over 913,000 concurrent players at release. However, along with New World's fast rise in popularity came inevitable server issues, and server transfers have been a particular sticking point for the game's fledgling community.

Many New World servers were overcrowded at release. To combat this, Amazon initially announced players would be unable to make new characters on full servers. Instead, the developer encouraged new players to start playing on servers in less populated regions, stating these players would be able transfer characters over to local regional servers in the future. Amazon later walked back that statement, receiving backlash from players who held out hope they would be able to move their characters. Amazon has since allowed some server transfers between servers in the same region, but it recently announced further New World server transfer delays. Despite finally successfully initiating server transfers earlier in mid-October, the developer unintentionally introduced a gold duplication glitch, and some players have caught wise and taken advantage of the exploit.

On the New World gold transactions with little effort. In an update, the New World developer mentioned all in-game transactions are logged in an official database. If the studio determines any players have deliberately exploited the glitch, those players will be banned from the game.

Players taking advantage of New World glitches is nothing new despite its relatively short lifespan so far. In fact, some players have found an easy invincibility exploit in the game, and less scrupulous players have discovered ways to auto-ban and steal from one another. However, Amazon Games has made it clear that it will not take players exploiting the gold duplication glitch lightly. In an update that came a few hours after the initial post, another official New World server transfers have been delayed once more while the glitch is being addressed. Once it's able to rectify the issue, Amazon will supposedly resume server transfers.

New World remains popular in spite of the server issues affected players are experiencing. Once the kinks of the system are worked out, hopefully everyone can play on the servers that best suit them. Until then, though, current players awaiting their own New World server transfers will have to continue to wait it out.
