Players of Amazon Games Orange County's recently launched the first day of New World's closed beta this past June.

The game did not release without its fair share of issues, though. Originally planned to be released in May 2020, the game saw a delay to August 2021 due to COVID-related challenges. Once receiving from players taking part in its beta, New World's release was once again delayed another month. After fixing bugs and further polishing the game, New World was released to fans on September 28, 2021. Just a week after Amazon Games' first completed video game launch, players reported that high-end graphics were causing malfunctioning graphics cards. Now, it appears the game's popularity is causing new issues.

The official Twitter of New World recently announced that players will not be able to make new characters on servers that are already full. The announcement explained that whenever a server is full, it will be greyed out with a message saying, "Character Creation temporarily disabled on this server to prevent overpopulation." It also mentioned that this new rule will not affect players with characters that have already been made on those servers. Those players will be able to log-in to without issue. In the meantime, New World's Twitter says that the development team is working on increasing the number of servers and increasing the capacity of available ones. Players are encouraged to frequently check the game's Server Status page for updates on the list of worlds, as they change hourly.

It's no surprise that the servers to New World are at their current capacity. On its first day of release, New World saw over a half million concurrent players, not including the players on the West Coast of the U.S. - those servers weren't established at that time. With so many players waiting to the servers and play the game for the first time, it has yet to be seen how Amazon Games will respond beyond its temporary solutions.

Its possible a few updates are in store for New World, given its issues regarding its servers. Once new players are allowed to make new characters on servers once again, the game's popularity could continue to grow. New players will be able to design their characters however they want, as long as their New World characters aren't named "Bezos" or "Amazon."
