Fans of Amazon Game Studios' compared to games like The Elder Scrolls Online.
Amazon's foray into the world of massive online multiplayer games has been a unique one. New World takes place in a colonial-inspired setting as opposed to a more standard high-fantasy world ala New World players even abandoned the game just weeks after its launch, lending credence to some of these concerns.
Having said that, New World maintains a strong, albeit relatively small, fanbase, many of whom are interested in seeing the developers of the game deal with some of its controversial aspects first-hand. A post on the New World forums (which was later shared by Redditor Nervbold1 and reported on by Game Rant) challenges the game's developers to complete a chest run in Myrkgard, an extremely difficult endgame zone. Conditions of the challenge include having a fixed gear score of around 550-580, playing in a live server, and killing all enemies encountered. The post also suggests making the stream a charity event. Votes in favor of the stream are being tracked via likes on the original forum post.
Players review-bombed New World on Steam back in November due to an update that sharply increased the difficulty of the game's enemies. Players continue to argue that this change has made New World less enjoyable, so it is--at least in theory-- an ingenious idea to try to get the developers to stream themselves playing the game. If the developers were to take the players up on this challenge, it could either put the issue to rest completely or further stoke frustration and disapproval.
Of course, it is unlikely that the creators of New World will accept this proposal. Unless the post in question gets a massive amount of attention, it will most likely not even get addressed. If the developers do end up hosting a charity stream of them playing the game though, it will certainly be a sight to behold.
New World is currently available on PC.
