Although a level 50 player can no longer stroll by and turn a level 5 noob to dust whenever they choose, many players in New World will still be looking to tackle the unforgiving world of Aeternum with a numbers advantage. Partying up and tackling goals with friends is a massive draw of any MMO, and New World is no different in this regard. Where it does differ, however, is how difficult the game makes it for players to do so. New players completing the tutorial for the first time will quickly find that their friends, who they've just convinced to spend $40 on this cool new game with them, have spawned scattered halfway across the game world. Thankfully there is a trick to beginning a character's leveling journey in any of the four starting zones in the game - not just the one the game decides for you.

The Trick to Leveling with Friends in New World

New World Party

Unfortunately, there is currently no way for a player to influence which of the four spawn locations their character will awaken at after the tutorial. This means that, unless players reroll their character until they find themselves in the same area as their party , there will be some walking involved. The trick to not getting locked into the quest chain for the wrong zone is to speak to the starting quest giver only once. Players who've freshly spawned on the beach will be directed to the NPC at the nearby watchtower to turn in their quest. Upon turning this quest in, players will be offered another quest, and, upon accepting, will be locked into that zone until they've completed every quest within the main storyline. However, if players turn in the initial quest and then back out of the NPC's dialogue box, they can then open their map and see that each of the four marked watchtowers will have a quest available. It's from this point that players can then make the journey to whichever starting zone they choose and begin the storyline there.

Despite a handful of significant delaysNew World remains one of the hottest MMO titles on the market and looks to progress the genre in many meaningful ways. With some of the biggest names on Twitch singing the praises of the game, even in its limited state, the opportunity remains for New World to claim a considerable portion of the current MMO landscape. With their revamped PVP system revolving around massive faction wars and build-your-own-class style of character progression, New World brings a lot to the table for MMO players in search of something new. The game is, however, still ironing out wrinkles, and the inability for players to easily group up and level with friends is a pretty massive wrinkle. Between now and the game's scheduled to release in early 2021, however, the devs seem committed to producing a fully fleshed-out product that will give the current mainstays in the MMO genre a run for their money.
