topping Steam’s player charts, the game has faced a number of technical issues that have hampered the experience.
The game’s server transfers service is a feature that players have been waiting for ever since the game’s launch. Unfortunately, Amazon Games has both delayed and removed the service several times after trying to implement it due to issues that arose from it. One notable problem the developers discovered was a gold duplication glitch that could be abused whenever players transferred their character to a new server, severely threatening the game's economy.
advance to the next New World Faction rank to raise their token cap.
The update also addresses issues wherein players aren’t granted the tax discount they should receive for their first house, as well as companies accidentally losing income from owning multiple territories or from failed War declarations, with affected players and companies being compensated for bugs. Apart from quite a number of general bug fixes, the update also tackles tentative fixes or adjustments to deal with a few major issues or exploits in the game. Some of these include players using area of effect magic abilities to prevent them from taking damage while attempting to capture rally points, a previously reported invulnerability exploit in New World, and players getting stuck after leaving Outpost Rush.
While the return of server transfers seem to be the bit of news that most players were looking forward to, the rest of New World’s 1.0.4 update does tackle quite a number of relatively significant issues. Particularly, with how difficult gold is to come by in the game, compensating players and companies who were either overspending on taxes or randomly losing gold and fixing the issues behind them is a pretty big deal. And Amazon Games finally looking into dealing with the invulnerability exploits could finally curb them potentially affecting a server’s faction balance due to players abusing them.
The return of server transfers following New World's earlier delay of the feature is definitely good news for players who are either looking for greener pastures or those who just wish to get to play with their friends. Hopefully there are no further issues with the feature that might force Amazon to remove it again. The significant number of other changes and fixes, whether fully applied or tentative, are also likely to be welcomed by the player community, and they're a good sign for the future of the game.
