His final three movies formed something of a loose trilogy, with all three featuring huge ensemble casts and being set around holidays. The first of these was 2010's Valentine's Day, which revolved around a variety of characters finding love on the titular date and included Jennifer Garner, Jamie Foxx, Queen Latifah, Taylor Swift and many more among its cast. The movie received mediocre reviews but was a solid success nonetheless.
It was quickly followed by New Year's Eve in 2011, where the likes of Ashton Kutcher, Robert De Niro, Halle Berry, Hilary Swank and countless others go through the motions of multiple, formulaic subplots. New Year's Eve soundtrack features a few tracks from Jon Bon Jovi, who plays a role in the film as rock star Daniel Jensen and performs alongside Lea Michele's Elise; of course, a cover of "Auld Lang Syne" is included too. Despite the bad reviews the movie received - which received in some Razzie nominations - New Year's Eve still did quite well, which may have been down to the drawing power of the cast.
That same can't be said for 2016's The Odd Couple, based on the classic series he co-developed in the 1970s.
