A developer from Nexon has confirmed that The First Descendant will soon be treated to the addition of jiggle physics. The First Descendant is a free-to-play title from Nexon where characters jump, loot, and shoot to help save humanity from certain doom. The game has a growing selection of characters to play as, each offering a different playstyle and aesthetic.

All the action of the fast-paced title will soon be enhanced thanks to the implementation of realistic body movements, i.e. jiggle physics. According to Season 2 arrives on December 5 with new characters, so players might see the changes sooner rather than later.

The Last Descendant Will Have The Option To Turn Jiggle Physics On Or Off

The Feature Will Be Optional, According to Devs

Besides the obvious reasons why someone might want a game element like this to be implemented, leaving out realistic body movements can make character movements look stiff and unnatural. That said, jiggle physics is not a feature that all players want to be present in their game.

Luckily for those who are uninterested in the feature, Nexon is making it up to players whether they have it active or not. According to the Discord representative, Nexon will be adding the option to turn jiggle physics on or off as they wish. The option will be added because the feature was not present from the beginning, so "offering a toggle option for players to choose seems appropriate."

Our Take: Do We Really Need A "Jiggle Physics" Feature?

At Least Nexon Is Giving Players An Option

Depicting the female anatomy in video games has changed a lot since the early days of Lara Croft and her polygonal twin companions. As video games became more realistic, developers have, of course, applied this element of realism to every part of their games. In many cases, this has been done tastefully to great results. In some, though, the idea is still taken to the extreme, resulting in some ridiculous and over-the-top instances of "jiggle physics."

It's gotten to the point where it's more newsworthy when a game doesn't include the feature right from the get-go. I appreciate Nexon's choice to turn the feature off since it's definitely a matter of preference. At the end of the day, I'm sure Nexon's time was better spent developing actually important elements of The First Descendant rather than implementing such a frivolous element, despite the game's mixed reviews.
