With Professor Charles Xavier's appearance in Multiverse of Madness opening the door for the X-Men to make their MCU debut, many fans are wondering who will make up the team and how their more bizarre abilities will be depicted.
While the X-Men have a plethora of heroes with abilities, such as strength, healing and telekinesis, that can be found throughout the entire superhero genre, they also have the several mutations that are almost entirely unique to the group and might be interesting to see on the silver screen.
Glob's Wax Physiology
Robert Herman, A.K.A. "Glob," is a particularly troubled mutant whose body is made almost entirely of a living waxy substance. Raised by a father that hated mutants, when Glob was dropped off at Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters, Glob grew to hate himself and his classmates.
But, after spending more time with fellow mutants, Glob came to realize that his mutation was a blessing rather than a curse. He has since used the durability of his wax body to protect his fellow mutants from hateful people like his father.
Eye-Boy's Various Eye Powers
Much like his codename describes, Trevor Hawkins is a boy completely covered in eyes. This led to much strife in Trevor's life. Not only was he labeled a "freak" by society, but he also lacked any offensive powers whatsoever.
But Eye-Boy is far from powerless. Trevor's multitudinous eyes grant him the ability to see in various spectrums of vision, including x-ray vision, night vision and infrared. He can even see traces left by magic and is an excellent marksman, able to find the weak points in any target.
Daken's Pheromone Control
Born the son of Wolverine and his wife Itsu, Daken's mother was killed by the Winter Soldier while Logan was away. Believing that his father killed his mother, Daken swore vengeance and became one of Wolverine's most deadly adversaries and, eventually, most trusted allies.
While Daken shares many on his father's powers, his ability to control his pheromones in order to manipulate the emotions of others is completely his own. Daken often uses this power in order to seduce people and extract information from them.
Shatterstar's Empathically Driven Teleportation
Hailing from the reality tv hellscape that is Mojoworld, Shatterstar was created and raised to be a gladiator before traveling to the Prime Marvel Universe and ing Cable's original X-Force Team.
Originally just an amazing fighter with swords, Shatterstar later developed the ability to teleport to various destinations. Although to do so, he requires somebody that he shares a connection with to visualize the destination and he can only use it once every four hours, making it for infiltration and transportation purposes only.
Longshot's Psychometry
Another former denizen of the Mojoverse, Longshot was a slave the hierarchs of the Mojoverse, but he turned against his evil overlords and became a freedom fighter before finding his way to Earth and ing forces with the X-Men.
While Longshot gets his name from his incredible luck, he also has a secondary ability that not as many fans know about. He can read the psychic imprints left on objects by people who have touched them, allowing him to see the past of an object, making him a valuable asset in missing persons cases.
Beast's Pedal Dexterity
One of the original X-Men, Henry "Hank" McCoy has always been a pillar of the team. Since the beginning, Beast has used his genius level intellect and latent savagery to protect his friends and teammates.
His original mutant ability had to do with his strength, nimbleness, and the ability to cling to things with his feet. To this day, Beast's pedal dexterity is possibly the most useful for his chosen vocation as a scientist and inventor as his feet allow him to hold multiple tools and reach places that would normally be much more difficult.
Multiple Man's Duplication
Originally a villain of the Fantastic Four, Jamie Madrox later learned to use his abilities for good, and after some time as a lab assistant on Muir Island, Madrox opened the mutant detective agency, X-Factor Investigations.
Multiple Man's ability to duplicate is unique in that it is activated by kinetic energy, meaning that he can go toe to toe against heavy hitters such as She-Hulk and the Thing. In addition to this, Jamie can absorb his dupes and gain their memories allowing him to learn all kinds of things quite literally by osmosis.
Morph's Transmorphing
Benjamin Deeds' powers first appeared at a pro-mutant rally, where he was received incredibly well. The festivities were cut short, however, when the two warring X-Men factions appeared to fight over the new mutant.
While he is far from the only shapeshifter in the X-Men, Morph is the only one that can only transform into people that he's around. While this may seem like a terrible hinderance to a great power, Morph instead partially transmorphs into his subjects and releases a chemical that makes them feel more at ease around him.
Cannonball's Energy Field Propulsion
Going from the New Mutants to X-Force to the Avengers, Sam Guthrie was born to be a hero. To help his family, Sam went to work in the same coal mines that killed his father. During a mine collapse Sam's mutant abilities manifested and he was able to save his coworker.
Cannonball's mutation allows him to become just that: a human cannonball. Sam is able to rocket through the sky at supersonic speeds, during which time he creates a blast field that makes him impervious to almost all damage. This ability makes Sam the definition of an unstoppable force.
Cypher's Universal Translation
Doug Ramsey was originally just a kid that would hang out with the New Mutants. But, after coming into with the alien entity, Warlock, Doug found that he was able to understand Warlock while no one else could, thus revealing his mutation to everyone, including himself.
While it may seem like a lack-luster power, Cypher's ability to understand has grown to transcend language. He now has the capability to understand different fighting styles, strings of computer code and the most complex scientific formulas. Eventually Cypher may be able to understand the universe in its entirety.
