Warning! Contains spoilers for Nightwing #110!

Summary

  • DC's Beast World event will introduce a monstrous Robin in Nightwing's Blüdhaven, posing a threat to the city and raising the question of whether Nightwing can save his former Robin.
  • Superman Jon Kent and Nightwing will team up to try and save Damian from his fate of turing into a cat-like creature.
  • Damian Wayne's transformation into a monster is seen as one of the biggest threats, and while he has a strong connection with Jon Kent, Nightwing's influence and their unbreakable link might be the key to controlling him.

DC has promised to shake the DCU up in the Beast World event, and one of the biggest issues is going to be a monstrous Nightwing's Blüdhaven. While the two characters have definitely had their disagreements over the years, there are also few characters in the Bat-Family closer than Dick Grayson and Damian Wayne. Whether Nightwing will be able to save his former Robin remains to be seen.

Beast World will throw the DCU into chaos when Beast Boy unleashes spores that transform people into monsters — including Damian Wayne, who transforms into a cat-like creature as he stalks the streets of Blüdhaven, as teased in the solicitation for Nightwing #110. Readers will see Superman Jon Kent and Nightwing come together to try and save Damian from his fate. While the full extent of Damian's transformation isn't currently known, the fact he is referred to as "one of the biggest threats" certainly doesn't bode well. One of the people trying to save Damian Wayne's humanity will be Jon Kent. There's no denying that Damian and Jon have a massive connection. The two were the Super Sons, and together they were one of the greatest teams that DC had to offer. Even with the new age gap introduced into their dynamic, they're still amazing friends and are always there to one another. This is likely going to be a key element in saving this transformed Damian, but even if Jon can't save his friend, there's still one person who has an even stronger connection to Damian.

While Damian is unlikely to ever it it, one of the most important people to him is Nightwing. While Damian has been Robin for a long time, he was Dick Grayson's Robin before he was Bruce Wayne's. While Nightwing was acting as Batman, Damian was his Robin, and it was a major moment in Damian's history. Through Dick's influence, Damian was able to learn what the mantle of Robin really meant, which helped prepare him for when he became Bruce's Robin. This gives the two characters an unbreakable link, which will hopefully be the key to bringing this new monstrous Damian under control.

Superman And Nightwing Have To Save Damian Wayne

Beast World is going to be an event that affects many DC characters and teams. Batman and Red Hood, for example, will both be transformed into wolves. The heroes of DC are capable of wreaking havoc if they ever turn evil, so the fact they're now literal monsters is a very serious threat. Even without powers, the cat-like Damian Wayne threatens to destroy Blüdhaven — unless Nightwing can save his former Robin.
