Warning: spoilers ahead for Teen Titans Academy #2!
In the latest issue of DC Comics' Teen Titans Academy, it's been confirmed that when he had amnesia. Now, things are about to get real complicated for all three heroes in the DC Universe, and it could be headed to a point where Nightwing finally has to make a choice about who he wants to be with.
Thus far in DC's new Nightwing and Starfire actually appear to be a couple. That being said, Dick Grayson has also recently been seen having intimate interactions with Barbara Gordon's Batgirl. DC Comics and the characters themselves have yet to put labels on anything, perpetually leaving the potential for either pairing depending upon the series/writers. However, it may finally be time for things to become more solidified with a committed relationship one way or the other.
In Teen Titans Academy #2, Nightwing and Starfire are getting out of bed, and it's obvious that they've been together for quite some time. However, Dick reveals that he got a call from Barbara, and he tells Kori that he thinks he needs he needs to spend more time in Blüdhaven, providing further confirmation that this series and Tom Taylor and Bruno Redondo's Nightwing are happening concurrently. That also means that Dick's responsibilities are being pulled between the two series (as well as his heart). While Nightwing tells Starfire that he's confident he can juggle both roles, she's clearly unhappy about the time he'll be spending with Barbara. Furthermore, Dick himself knows that Barbara is creating a rift.
Meanwhile, it doesn't help that Dick has been spending so much time with Batgirl is his revamped solo series from Taylor and Redondo. It's evident that he has just as much feelings for Barbara as he does for Kori. To makes matters even more complicated, Batman himself did recently marry Dick and Barbara before the final battle of Dark Nights: Death Metal. While they presumedly got it annulled like they said they were going to do should they survive, the stipulation was that Dick said he was going to fight to win Batgirl back, as the two of them have been just as on and off with their romance as Dick has been with Starfire.
While this is all very complicated, it's seem pretty clear that Nightwing is going to have commit soon, or else risk losing the both of them. Neither Batgirl nor Starfire are the type to be satisfied with just waiting around to be chosen. As such, Nightwing has some decisions to make, and he better do it fast. However, there's going to be just as many overjoyed fans as there will be disappointed fans no matter who he ends up with in the future.
