Robot's self-sacrifice and witnessing a few traumatic events, Nina took it upon herself to finish her team's mission and kill Princess Ilana Rostovic. Unfortunately, the Princess of Pokolistan fought back, killing Nina.
Speaking to ScreenRant at the SXSW 2025 premiere of The True Beauty Of Being Bitten By A Tick, Creature Commandos star Zoe Chao addresses the possibility of having Nina Mazursky return in a future DCU project. Chao compares James Gunn's creative freedom to that of The True Beauty Of Being Bitten By A Tick director Pete Ohs, both of whom like to "(keep) the door open." Zoe Chao says:
"What's cool about James [Gunn], like Pete Ohs, is he keeps the door open, too. So, who knows?"

It's Too Early To Call Off Any DCU Character's Return
Zoe Chao neither confirms nor denies Nina Mazursky will return despite her death in the Creature Commandos finale. However, it's true that the door is open for Nina's return. Not only have multiple characters come back from the dead in DC movies and shows, but characters close to Nina have already defied death. For example, Weasel seemed to die in James Gunn's The Suicide Squad, but The Suicide Squad's post-credits scene confirms Weasel somehow survived. G.I. Robot himself returned with an improved body after Nina Mazursky's death in the Creature Commandos finale.
DC Just Proved One DCU Hero Is Basically Unkillable And It's The One You'd Least Expect
DC just cemented one surprising character as essentially unkillable in the DC Universe, reinforcing a fascinating history that began before the DCU.
With multiple movies and shows yet to hit theaters and streaming, and with countless stories yet to begin, it's still too early to confirm that Nina Mazursky cannot come back from the dead. After all, there are many ways a character can resurrect in DC Comics lore. Even if Nina's death is definitive, Zoe Chao's Nina Mazursky could still show up in Creature Commandos season 2 and other projects in the form of flashbacks.

Zoe Chao's Nina Mazursky Didn't Reach Her Full Potential In Creature Commandos
Each member of the Creature Commandos received their focus in the DCU's first animated series, and Nina received her due in Creature Commandos episode 7. But unlike characters like G.I. Robot, the Bride, and Doctor Phosphorus, Nina's backstory was only explored until the end of the season, and she displayed her fighting spirit right before her death. Similarly to her friend G.I. Robot, Nina Mazursky could return with an upgrade in a future DCU project, Creature Commandos season 2 or otherwise.
