Drama is almost inevitable when it comes to enhance the action, too.

There are exceptions, of course; couples that strive for honesty and discuss the realities of their relationships openly before committing end up drama-free. However, those kinds of couples have become rarer with each new season and spinoff. With or without drama, their stories are enthralling. Let’s take a look at the couples that best exemplify each category.

Dramatic: Mohamed and Danielle

First came the intimacy issues. Mohamed Jbali's religious vow of premarital celibacy received an indefinite extension the moment the wedding ring touched his finger. Several things could’ve triggered his disinterest, but perhaps it was discovering that Danielle Jbali's lifestyle had once been funded by bad checks and fraudulent credit card use. Once he had his residency secured, he fled to Florida to spend time with Luisa, his gorgeous female friend. Danielle responded by driving three hours to appear on his doorstep with folders full of evidence.

Drama-Free: Kyle & Noon

Bajaree Boonma, otherwise known as Noon, resolved the little drama there was in Kyle Huckabee's life when she married him. His relationship with his parents was nonexistent until she convinced him to reach out to his mom. Noon's presence motivated Kyle to work harder so that he could move them into an apartment without roommates.

The final change he made was leaving his home and job to travel to Portland, Oregon, Noon’s preferred place of residence. Each of these changes occurred with little pressure from Noon’s side and little reluctance from his.

Dramatic: Anfisa & Jorge

Jorge and Anfisa talking to someone in 90 Day Fiancé

Anfisa Nava came to the United States to marry a wealthy man living out a luxurious life. Instead, she got Jorge Nava, a man struggling to get out of debt. The disappointment triggered tantrums from Anfisa in almost every episode.

At the height of her fury, she keyed the word "idiot" into the side of his car and broke his cell phone. None of their arguments were ever resolved. The situation only worsened during the two and a half years he spent in prison for felony drug possession.

Drama-Free: Matt & Alla

Matt Ryan & Alla Fedoruk

The biggest conflict between these two was deciding whether or not to relocate their home. Alla Fedoruk won that battle, and the family moved to Cincinnati. Matt Ryan had won the previous spat when he requested that Alla rethink her dream wedding because it resembled a wedding he'd had before.

The backyard wedding they held instead turned out beautiful enough to bring the guests to tears. Matt and Alla's ability to calmly work through these issues showed an unusual level of maturity for the show.

Dramatic: Pedro and Chantel

The love between Pedro and Chantel was obvious and made fans hopeful for a happy ending. That’s until familial intervention threatened everything. Chantel's parents investigated every speck of dirt they could dig up about Pedro. They used that information to accuse Pedro's mother of shipping him off to the United States as part of her mail-order husband business. Further accusations of lying and cheating resulted in mutual silent treatments. Things culminated in a fistfight with Pedro and his sister in one corner and Chantel’s entire family in the other.

Drama-Free: Alan & Kirlyam

Kirlyam and Alan Cox with their son

Alan Cox spent his season agonizing over his wife’s beauty. He was convinced that she would leave him for a more attractive man once she settled into the United States. Rather than let his insecurities irritate her, Kirlyam Cox comforted her husband with constant reassurances.

Part of those reassurances required her to give up her short-lived modeling career. She handled all of their relationship issues with grace though homesickness did put a damper on her characteristic optimism. Alan’s family did their best to make her feel welcome.

Dramatic: Colt & Larissa

Colt and Larissa sitting outside looking uncomfortable in 90 Day Fiance

Hidden pasts involving criminal records are commonplace among the 90 Day Fiancé cast at this point. Colt Johnson put a spin on things when he had his wife Larissa Dos Santos arrested three times for domestic abuse during the relationship.

Much of the dysfunction in their relationship was caused by the inability of Larissa and her mother-in-law, Debbie Johnson, to get along. The most dramatic moment was when Larissa shouted “who is against the queen will die” at her in-laws from the top of the stairs.

Drama-Free: Amy and Danny

Amy and Danny Frishmuth never had a genuine, raised-voice fight on camera. Ignoring the entire premise of the show, they were just the average young couple, deeply in love. It was Danny's father who caused all the drama with his disapproval of their interracial relationship.

Amy listened to his criticisms and responded politely despite the racist implications of his issues with her. He couldn't help but be won over. The couple enjoyed an outdoor wedding before moving away to Fort Worth, Texas to begin their lives together.

Dramatic: Nicole & Azan

Nicole Nafziger Azan Tefou: TLC: 90 Day Fiancé

Nicole Nafziger didn't do her research before visiting the home country of her fiancé, Azan Tefou. The majority of their fights sprung from her rejection of the conservative culture in Morrocco. She found restrictions on PDA and laws prohibiting cohabitation incomprehensible. He initially tolerated her outbursts, but that ended when she cheated on him and assaulted him outside his home for refusing to let it go.

Not every problem began with Nicole, however. Azan sent sensual messages to other women after his fiance's infidelity, took the little money she had, and itted his dissatisfaction with her appearance.

Drama-Free: Louis & Aya

Louis & Aya Gattone

This couple was almost painfully normal. Episodes focused on their romantic outings to places like an amusement park and a magic show. Tonya, Louis Gattone's ex-wife, was the one to complicate things. The child she shared with Louis had caused her to remain in his life. She was concerned about how Aya Gattone would fit into the family. In particular, doubts about her use of corporal punishment came from preconceived notions about Aya's culture. Louis defended his new wife while acknowledging the concerns of his child's mother.
