The list of games with Switch 2 compatibility issues shortly after the console was revealed – some that wouldn't launch at all, and others with different, untold issues once in the game.

Said list has now been updated with a new PDF from Nintendo, which delineates which games are already scheduled to have their issues resolved. Among these are live-service giant Fortnite, which will release a new version exclusively for the Switch 2, rather than use an updated Switch 1 game client. Other notable heavy hitters on the list are DOOM Eternal and NBA 2K25, both of which will have their compatibility issues resolved with an update.

Fortnite is currently the only game on the compatibility issues list that will receive a whole new version for the Switch 2. This is only unique among games that have compatibility issues; Nintendo is also releasing a handful of enhanced ports of first-party games, like the Switch 2 versions of Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom. Nintendo's upgrades are paid, even if you own the Switch version; Fortnite's, as a traditionally free-to-play game, will be free.

Expect More Games To Be Updated For Switch 2 Compatibility

Many Issues Are Still Being Investigated

The above list is just a subset of games that already have updates or new versions planned. There are still plenty of Switch 1 games that have seemingly not had their compatibility issues thoroughly investigated. Switch versions of Alan Wake Remastered and Alien: Isolation, for example, are two notable games that will start on the Switch 2, but have issues once playing the game; both are labeled as "This issue is being investigated" in Nintendo's lists.

Conceivably, many games with Switch 2 compatibility issues will have them resolved soon after the console launches, but have not yet had their issues pinned down yet for Nintendo to claim an update is on the way. The thorough transparency from Nintendo on these issues is very appreciated, and should help avoid many headaches when s try to play certain games on their Nintendo Switch 2.
