New information has been acquired through apparent internal documents and emails from a US retailer by Insider Gaming. The documents shed some light on the potential plans of the gaming giant as it prepares for what may prove to be its biggest launch ever. If the source is reliable, fans may be looking at a potential June release date for the Nintendo Switch 2 after all, with preorders apparently starting on April 9.

However, Insider Gaming reports that the US retailer allegedly expects to run out of pre-order units on the very first day of the Switch 2's launch, despite Nintendo reportedly working to create a surplus. Leaks have been all over the place with release window speculations, but this leak as well as several other insider tips from other sources seem to be leaning toward a June 2025 release, after all.

An official reveal is planned for the Nintendo Direct scheduled for April 2, which will presumably reveal the console's launch date and price. This reveal will reportedly be followed up by a countdown clock to the start of presales for the console, which may be coming on April 9.

Although the Switch 2 has been confirmed to run Switch games, a recent change on the Nintendo website has hinted at the possibility of needing to buy "Switch 2 edition" updates for Switch games.

All this information, combined with the frequent conflicting leaks experienced at Nintendo in the past few months, risks creating some confusion at the console's launch.
