The Nintendo Switch Online library may be getting its biggest update yet, according to a new rumor. Nintendo Switch Online has been popular for its collection of titles from past consoles, with select titles from the NES and SNES, Game Boy, and Game Boy Color included in the main subscription, and an Expansion Pack adding titles from the Nintendo 64, Sega Genesis, and Game Boy Advance.
As reported by Comicbook, a reliable Nintendo insider Pyoro - who previously leaked the Super Mario RPG remake immediately before its reveal - has taken to X with several hints surrounding Nintendo and "dolphins" following the announcement of a Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase set to take place on February 21. This has led to speculation that Nintendo could be adding some of its GameCube library to Nintendo Switch Online, as the codename used for the console was "Project Dolphin."

10 Best GameCube Games Of All Time
The GameCube is home to an extraordinary library of games, and all of the best titles are still well worth seeking out and playing today.
When Could Nintendo Announce The GameCube Expansion?
And What Games Could Be Included?
Even though Pyoro strongly hinted at the GameCube announcement being a part of the Partner Showcase, this isn't normally the kind of reveal expected at such events. Instead, it's more likely that a remaster of one of the console's exclusive titles could appear at the Partner Showcase, following on from the likes of Metroid Prime, Tales of Symphonia, or Pikmin 1 and Pikmin 2, and the announcement of a GameCube app on Nintendo Switch Online could come on another date in the near future.
Despite the many GameCube titles that have been remade or remastered for the Nintendo Switch already, there are still plenty that sanity-warping cult horror title Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem. It could also be a good opportunity to bring back the Nintendo-exclusive remake of Metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes, following its exclusion in the recent Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1, which contained a port of the original game with its PS1-era graphics instead.
The Nintendo GameCube was part of one of the best console generations, alongside the PlayStation 2 and original Xbox. Therefore, fans have been keen to see many of the titles from this era become available on modern platforms. Whether a GameCube app on Nintendo Switch Online will be included as part of the pre-existing subscription or expansion pack, or if it will require yet another purchase is yet to be seen, but if Pyoro's hints do turn out to be true, this could be a huge win for Nintendo players depending on how many games are included and what they are.
