A listing for the rumored New Nintendo Switch Pro appeared on Amazon Mexico's website, before being taken down. Rumors about a revised model of the Nintendo Switch have been circulating for years, but they've picked up steam over the past few months.
There have been reports of Nintendo asking developers to prepare for 4K back in 2020, in preparation for a new Switch that could handle higher resolutions. The rumored specs of the Nintendo Switch Pro include a 7-inch OLED screen, the ability to play games in 4K resolution, and an improved dock with a built-in Ethernet adapter. Nintendo has released upgraded versions of its handheld systems in the past, with the Game Boy, DS, and 3DS all receiving significant upgrades over their lifespan. These updates haven't been as frequent with Nintendo's home consoles, outside of changes to their appearance and size.
It was only a few days ago that rumors started circulating about the Nintendo Switch Pro being announced before E3 and entering production over the Summer. A listing for a product called the "New Nintendo Switch Pro" model appeared on Amazon Mexico's website, before being taken down. A screenshot of the original listing has been preserved by Nintendeal on Twitter, but it doesn't have any additional information. The direct link now goes to a blank page, but copying the link into Google shows the original title used on the site.
This wouldn't be the first time that Amazon accidentally leaked a major Nintendo Switch announcement. The reveal that was coming to Nintendo Switch leaked early, due to an Amazon entry for an Overwatch-themed Nintendo Switch carry case. This still isn't confirmation that the Nintendo Switch Pro is on the way, but its existence seems more likely by the day.
Switch fans have been expecting news of an upgraded model for a while now, but the pandemic, coupled with the growing popularity of the base Nintendo Switch, made it unclear when the system would be released. Nintendo hasn't been able to keep the base Switch units on the shelves, and there have been warnings of shortages later in the year. A revised console is something that's usually released once interest in the original system starts to wane, but that hasn't happened with the Switch yet. Despite all of this, the rumors of an upgraded Nintendo Switch keep on popping up, and the E3 2021 seems like the perfect place to announce and showcase the system.
