In Nioh 2 players will find themselves collecting a massive amount of gear while they play. Almost every enemy that dies drops one to three weapons or armor pieces that can be used to improve the player's gear. This can become a little overwhelming and frustrating though as the vast majority of this gear is worthless. Particularly annoying is when players receive a weapon that is a high level but doesn't fit their playstyle.

This problem can be rectified if the player seeks out one of the Sudama that are hiding throughout Nioh 2's levels. The Sudama are the same beings as the friendly Kodama but have been corrupted by the Dark Realm. Luckily, unlike most corrupted creatures, Sudama are not naturally aggressive but have become extremely materialistic as a result of their corruption. If players give them an item, these creatures will, in turn, trade them something in return.

Trading items with the Sudama in Nioh 2 is incredibly simple. By stumbling across these little purple creatures players have the opportunity to get higher quality gear. All the player has to do is stand next to them and drop a piece of gear on the ground next to Sudama. The Sudama will then pick the item up and drop a similarly leveled item on the ground next to it.

Trading with the Sudama will give the player a completely random piece of gear, but it is an easy way to give away high leveled items that the player has no use for. The most effective way to use this to the player's advantage is to drop a very powerful weapon that doesn't fit their playstyle. For example, if the player dislikes using spears they can drop a powerful one and hope that Sudama gives them a weapon they are more likely to use.

There are a few things to keep in mind while trading with the Sudama. After only one trade Sudama will disappear entirely, so players should make sure that they use their trade effectively. Salt should also never be given to Sudama as it will then attack the player. An upside to trades, whether the player receives what they want or not, is that Sudama will almost always give Lantern Plant Fruit as a result. Another thing that many players may not realize either is that if a Soul Core is given to a Sudama then there is a pretty high chance of players receiving a Kodama Core in return.

Trading with Sudama does not guarantee that players will get an item that they will enjoy using. With a little patience and smart trading though, players can potentially find themselves in possession of their new favorite piece of gear in Nioh 2.
