There are three different types of currency in No Man's Sky, and each is more difficult to come by than the last. Units are the most basic form of currency obtained by selling items, followed by nanites which can only be obtained through niche methods including completing journey milestones. However, Quicksilver is the most elusive form of space currency.

While Units and Nanites can be farmed endlessly, players can only obtain a limited amount of Quicksilver per day. There are in-game events that have the potential to reward the player with Quicksilver, and this guide will cover those events as well. But here is how players can obtain Quicksilver, and what it can be used on in No Man's Sky.

How To Get Quicksilver In No Man's Sky

The easiest method of getting Quicksilver is by completing Nexus missions. The Nexus can be found inside the Anomaly which can be summoned by the player after warping a couple of times. The Nexus is in the central hub of the Anomaly can look like a floating metal eye inside a cube. To the right of the cube, there should be floating orange icons that indicate the number of Quicksilver missions the player can complete. After accepting Quicksilver missions from the Nexus, the player can earn 250 Quicksilver upon completing each mission. These missions refresh every 24-hours which allows the player to earn 750 Quicksilver every day. On weekends, the missions reward the player with 1,200 Quicksilver.

These missions are difficult but are easier when taken on with friends or strangers. There is a method of farming Quicksilver, but it is far less lucrative. Players can warp to green galaxies and have the potential to encounter an in-game event called Stellar Ice. These are random events that can appear while warping across a galaxy, and they don't always net the player Quicksilver. The event does, however, allow the player an opportunity to farm Quicksilver outside of missions.

Quicksilver can then be used at the Quicksilver Synthesis shop aboard the Anomaly to buy exclusive gear, including a living ship. Quicksilver cannot be spent or traded anywhere else, but the items that can be bought from the synthesizer are well worth the grind. Players can also change their appearance using Quicksilver which is a great way to show off a player's superiority.
