Aliens and Horror Can Be a Potent Combination

Creepy Distorted Man in No One Will Save You

It isn’t exactly common for the alien invasion movie and the horror genre to collide, but when they do, the results can frequently be explosive. Alien invasions have been applied to many different subgenres in the past. This includes the haunted house movie (Blumhouse’s Dark Skies) and the found footage format (Apollo 18, Phoenix Forgotten).

In fact, one of last year's biggest horror hits, Jordan Peele's Nope, combined an alien invasion spectacle with a full-tilt monster movie. One of the most respected horror movies of all time also blends an extraterrestrial menace with the slasher movie subgenre. That would be Ridley Scott's Alien, the 1979 classic that spawned a franchise that now includes six movies and two crossovers with the Predator franchise.

It remains to be seen if No One Will Save You can be anywhere near as potent as the aforementioned titles. However, it comes just one year after another Hulu original, the Predator prequel Prey, became a hit by powerfully pitting young Comanche warrior Naru (Amber Midthunder) against a rampaging Predator. If Hulu can keep up their streak, they could very well have another alien horror hit on their hands.
