Of Rats and Raiders is a side quest in No Rest for the Wicked that leads to the second boss of the game against Falstead Darak. This is a two-phase fight that requires a bit of backtracking in between. Completing this quest is extremely useful as it grants players housing as a reward.

The Town of Sacrament opens after Warrick the Torn has been defeated outside the city gate. Once inside, dozens of NPCs are ready to bestow the Cerim with new quests and targets. Winnick, found in the town square, can kick off this quest immediately, although it's best to wait until level six before starting on this venture.

How To Defeat Falstead Darak In No Rest For The Wicked

Image of Darak Falstead and several raiders beside him.

Falstead Darak's first phase in No Rest for the Wicked is relatively easy, although your initial foray will be cluttered as both Darak raiders and Sacrament soldiers are also in the fray. Your focus should be on Darak. The boss has wild, wind swings and gives physical cues whenever he's resting between attacks.

The window for attacks on Darak is much wider than Warrick the Torn, so make use of your opportunities. It's best to keep a distance to bait out his charge attack, which is easily the most punishable move in his rotation. The raider's attacks deal massive damage, so ensure that you have made all necessary gear repairs before squaring off against Darak.

The second encounter with Darak in the Black Trench is very similar to phase one, at least to start. Whenever Darak's health bar nears the end, the raider leader sprouts tentacles which gives the boss a much longer range and an entirely new set of attacks. To counter this added layer of difficulty, bring along Scrap Bombs or Flamescale Oil to provide extra damage and a ranged option. Larger weapons, such as Claymores, are also extremely useful for chunking down large amounts of health at once. Weight class in No Rest For The Wicked matters far less in this fight than others, but it's still best to avoid carrying a heavy pack.

How To Complete Of Rats And Raiders In No Rest For The Wicked

Falstead Darak changes locations after your first clash, and requires you to speak with certain characters to ascertain where he's fled. After defeating Darak on the bridge, return to Sacrament and speak with Winnick. A nearby prisoner named Rattigan offers to give Darak's location in exchange for his freedom. To free Rattigan, by the War Room and loot a sleeping guard by the fountain. Report back to Rattigan with the key to free him.

With Rattigan free, a new map marker will appear guiding you to The Shallows. This is below the Orban Glades you initially ed through to reach Sacrament. The elevator in Orban Glades is the fastest way to reach this location. Whenever you arrive at the sewer, Rattigan greets the Cerim and opens the way to the Black Trench.

This zone is crawling with Torn enemies, hinting at Darak's new affliction. After dispatching the raider boss for good, return to Winnick in Sacrament and speak to Winnick. Now that Darak has been slain, you are free to build your own house in No Rest for the Wicked.
